When the context is about socializing, making friends and having long conversations, I always find myself looking for a back door as an escape way. Sometimes, I wonder how I wonder how I manage to get a lot of good people in my life because I really hate socializing, and making friends with people is a lot of work for me.
Making friends, influencing people and being influenced either positively or negatively is an amazing part of growth and development. For a fact, I think these are some of the major things that play a vital role in shaping us into what we become in life.
This post is an entry for hive learners prompt, Friendships. In this post, i will share my perspective of friendships, if i have friends and whether or not I can maintain friendships. I will also share my views on how open and tolerant a person should be when it comes to the different ideas and opinions in friendships.
I grew up in a family where my mom always wants us to be the influencers and not the influenced. She always told me to pick my friends and not let somebody pick me as a friend. Back then, i didn't understand her perspective, but currently, I think I'm beginning to understand it.
I think friends are cool to have. I love seeing people build their friendships. Mom use to tell me to choose my friends wisely because they are the ones that will uplift me. Also, she said that they are the ones to bring about my downfall if i don't tread carefully.
From my perspective, friends are a double edged sword. They can build you and put you in high places. They can also bring you down and make you lose everything you ever worked for. My thoughts are, the friends we keep are a key to our success and doom.
Personally, I don't like keep friends. I prefer to have acquaintances, work colleagues or business partners. For me, socializing is a lot of work that I don't really like doing. The only time i am social is when i'm at work caring for my patients. After work, i'm back to my shell.
Its not like i'm shy, or an introvert, its just that I don't really like it. In most cases, my thoughts are: Instead of using 30 minutes to talk to this person, would it not be better to use that time and look for update that will betterment my life? or maybe use that time to get enough rest and sleep. It may sound weird. I get that a lot. However, I'm just being me. Sometimes, i wonder how the few friends I have cope. We can go a long time without having a good conversation. We just chat each other when we need update on something, or when we have something going on that needs the other persons attention. Everybody is busy trying to build themselves.
In every friend circle, there is bound to be diverse ideas, opinions and perspective. To me, every ideas and perspective matters a lot. The fact that i don't fancy your perspective doesn't mean its not logical, or its not important. All it means is that our perspective don't match, so, all we can do is to accommodate and support each other. Respecting each other's boundary is an important thing to do too.
