Not The Perfect Body, But The Best Body.

The concept of body positivity and negativity is one that have been talked about for a long time. Our individual perspective of a perfect body vary from person to person. In some culture, being fat and having a big stomach makes an individual look more attractive. This is because it is assumed that being fat (not too fat) and having big stomach means that a man is financially successful. Conversely, for some people, it is a big taboo to be fat. They even go ahead to make fun of, or bully a fat person just because they are fat. Some feel shame because of their skinny or fat stature. ![WIN_20250416_17_35_03_Pro.jpg](https://files.peakd.com/file/peakd-hive/nwothini335/EppKhu9HtP5976KV1otpXDJDH6yAv6zuCTrxoLmrTXozTaJVUkHAUeJuRVGHsJP65LC.jpg)
We live in a world where body shaming is a norm. People talk hurtful things to the fat, slim, and physically disabled. People feel shy of going out because they are scared of what people will say about their stature. This post is an entry for Hive Learners prompt, Body Positivity. In this post, I will write about my perspective of body positivity. I will also share a time when I was laughed at because of my broken tooth. lol.. Though we are beings with one of the best intelligence in the world, most times, our perception of things and how we feel, drive us to do some things that is out of the ordinary. It was a surprise when I saw a "she" identifying as a "he" and vise versa. It pains me to see people try to change their body stature because of what people say. In 2013, i was involved in a very bad road accident that broke my front tooth in two. It took a few months to fully recovery physically. With a broken tooth in mouth, i was not able to socialize as i used to because i feared being insulted. I was always inside, and when i went out, I limited how i talk, and i could not laugh wholeheartedly so as not to show my broken tooth. I was counselled and supported by my mom to drop the shame and be free, but then, i could not. My friend group was one that will make fun of anybody in every opportunity they got. Having a broken tooth means that i was always made fun of. I do pick fights with my friends because i was made fun of, but the most annoying thing is that after the fight, they will still make fun of my reactions. lol.. some crazy friends I had. I lived like this for a few months until i began to accept it. I didn't know how i passed this stage. Probably my moms words of encouragement and support my elder brother. When I finally accepted the fact that i had a broken tooth, I began to join them to make fun of me. Yes, instead of picking a fight or being annoyed by their words, I laughed when they made fun of my broken tooth. Their words were no longer making me angry, instead, I just went with the flow and laughed at it. Welp, after a decade and few years, I decided to remove the tooth. I will get an artificial tooth to fill it. I'm not getting an artificial one because i'm ashamed of it. Instead, i'm getting one because i want to. Thank you for reading.
