Aside from salary increment and when there is a celebration of another colleague, one major thing that fills the heart of an average salary earner is when there is a holiday or when they apply for their annual leave.
Its not that these people show lackadaisical attitudes towards their job, but most times, the work load can be very demanding and overwhelming. In most cases, the only way to secure rest is either when the weekend comes, or when there is a holiday.
My country is a very nice country that rewards its workers with the necessary holiday when need be. The annual leave application system is quite a nice one. I actually love how they organize it. However, given the fact that my country has quite a few holidays, some times, I can't help it but feel like we actually need more days off work to just chill and relax.
This post is an entry to hive learners prompt, Holiday Season. In this post, I will write my perspective on holiday seasons, and if the holidays we have in my country is enough or not.
Had it been I was writing an entry for this prompt early this year or maybe last year, my response would have been; "There is no need for workers to have a holiday season. We should work, and work until we get tired. The only time we can go off work is when we are really sick or having very urgent thing to do." I use to see myself as a programmed machine that needs little or no rest. lol.

The truth is, we need that rest. We really need that time off work. Funny enough, when you remove your attention from a difficult problem for some time, you will tend to subconsciously get solutions to the problems without even know it. This is the power of taking a break and getting some rest.
Holiday seasons are very important. From my perspective, each and every worker should enjoy the privilege of going for a holiday. Be it Christmas holiday, Salah holiday or even Annual leave or something.
When the context is holiday, nurses tend to be lost in the conversation because we rarely go for holidays. In a year, the only time we are off work is when we go for 6 weeks Annual leave or Maternity leave (for government workers). And oh, anytime we go for a strike (very very rare).
I think private workers need to have more holidays. I remember when i worked in a private hospital, I could go months without even having to rest due to holiday. The only time i rested was when i was off duty, which is no more than 7 days per month. Some private facilities do better while some, do less.
In my country, i think we need more holidays. Not too much per se, but enough. The wages for our works is minimal but our man power is plenty, so, it wouldn't hurt to get more time to rest after outputting such enormous man power.
I don't know if this much holiday will affect the economy of the country. I think giving more holiday will be a nice thing to do.
