Is democracy the best form of government?

## Hello, everyone. I welcome you to my blog and another wonderful edition of the hive learner's featured post. Humans are by far the worst when left without leadership, without a leader to lead or rules and regulations to keep us on track, we humans that are believed to be higher class animals would do the unbelievable and some might even go as far as doing things that are least expected from a human being and this made it important for a leader, laws, rules, and regulations to be in place. The importance of a leader amongst humans have caused us to experience different forms of government from monarchs to democracy.  [Source](https://unsplash.com/photos/red-paint-on-white-pavement-JqWvPQZXhIc) For monarchs, power is held by a single person or a single family, the power remains within the family and is inherited from one generation to another. In this type of leadership the people have little or no say on who rules as it is mandatory that power is passed down from one family member to another whether the people likes it or not nobody cares, monarch is like power or leadership forced on the people without asking if they want such or not. While democracy is said to be the government of the people, by the people and for the people. In this type of leadership the People have a say in who leads them and this decision is made through a democratic voting and one with the highest votes or supporters emerge as the leader, this style of selecting or electing a leader gives the people power and in a way feels like a decentralised system. Democracy aimed to take away the dictatorship of monarchs and put power in the hands of everyone but to a point I feel like that aim or objective is a complete failure. Democracy was supposed to be the answer but with what is happening right now I strongly doubt if it is the answer for the reason it was introduced or adopted has been hijacked and replaced with something, democracy aimed to put power in the hands of the people so they can choose who rules and leads them but today whoever wants to rule can just rig the election in their favour and force themselves on the people just like the monarchs do not minding if the people wants them to rule and lead them or not. Also democracy is believed to be for the people but the last time we had a democratic leader that had the best interest of the people at heart we cannot remember, many who were voted in democratically enters power and are only after their pockets and looting funds meant for the general public for themselves, their family and even for their generations to come, the government is no longer for the people but for those who are in power as all they do is what favours them and do little or nothing that favours the public.
