I guess Facebook Marketplace counts for Market Friday. I know Denise @dswigle was somewhat of a stickler for obeying the rules of Marketplace Friday, but since she hasn't been around much I guess we are allowed to bend the rules at least a little bit. ๐
I fully admit to being a complete sucker for cheap finds on Facebook Marketplace, especially for garden accessories like stands and tables to put my various flowers on.
I saw a lady who had an inexpensive heavy, metal table and chairs set for sale. The only problem was I would have to drive over to the next county to pick them up. The good news was the next county over is Floyd County which has the city of Floyd which has the aptly named Floyd General Store. Now I have been meaning to stop by there for some time now to check it out. The Floyd General Store is not far by miles from my house, but it is 100 % fully and properly situated in the midst of the Blue Ridge Mountains, so travel time ranges from slow to slower! They have a fun website here: https://www.floydcountrystore.com/
The Floyd General Store is well known in the area for having old time, string band music. There is a little stage inside the store where folks perform while patrons can sit at tables and get some homemade food like their famous Ruben on marbled rye while they listen to the music. The cool thing is that the weekends draw musicians from all around and they gather along the sidewalks in groups of two or three and just jam with a fiddle, a guitar, and maybe a banjo too.
The store was jumping and it wasn't even the weekend yet! ๐
The store has loads of interesting items from jams to barrels of candy!
What I was proud to see is that they have so many locally produced items for sale.
The best part is the locally produced items were not exorbitantly priced, which is a true rarity.
They even had some Buck knives cutlery.
The Floyd General Store even sells musical instruments and lesson books.
The Floyd General Store even sells works of art produced by local artisans.
All the works of art were beautiful but also sadly beyond my budget.
Well thanks so much for coming along with me while we explored The Floyd General Store!
