I was sat in the midst of people some days ago, and we talked about how we’ve all grown unattached to writing with our hands. We all had a certain report we were to submit - a handwritten report. While we talked, I found out that I wasn’t the only one finding it hard keeping up with writing manually. It was the same for us all.
Now you see, thanks to the advent of phones, you’d rarely have me dealing with physical notes, except it’s during school periods. And I’ve been away from school for a while now. Safe to say, I haven’t had much hand writing to do. Everything I’ve needed to write, jot down or keep track of, I’ve been doing it swiftly on my mobile device which is why filling this report book of over 30 pages seemed a hassle.
I’ve always thought of how life would be easier for us students if there was an invention where we could scan whatever it was we needed to write and then, have automatically written it for us in our unique handwritings. The aim of invention, is to make life easier for humans, and this is one aspect that prove a hassle to students. So why not?
How exactly will this work?
For every new user, they’ll be asked to write the 26letters of the alphabet in caps lock, and also rewrite certain words in small letters. This would allow the system predict their writings to a certain extent, and be able to clone it more accurately.
Writing manually is something that I enjoyed when I was younger but now, I find it very hard writing a full page of note. Most of the time, my handwriting starts out like a chicken given a pen to scrawl on a piece of paper, then as I progress, it begins to tune out. Back when I was in secondary school, I didn’t mind writing so many pages in one day, as long as I still had ink in my pen, I was fine. But now, the mere thought of writing past one page leaves me distraught, and thinking if only this invention existed.
I have two designs in mind for this invention. There’d be a larger sized version which will imitate a photocopying machine. You’ll place whatever you want to be cloned in a particular section, and place the clear page in its own section. With the click of a button, it clones the initial piece onto your desired page. With this, there might be some errors while writing and it might require extra care when dealt with but not to worry, I’m sure by the time I’m ready to invent, I’ll have figured out something better.
The second design would be something as portable as a mobile phone. With it, the user just has to place it atop whatever needs to be cloned, scanning the details, and then, raising it above the required sheet. This design would simply require the user to hover over the desired page, and have it clone whatever writing they need to be cloned. With this design, I believe accuracy will be more guaranteed than with the first. Now tell me, what do you think about this idea?
This actually, is still a thought in progress. But when the #hive-ghana community called for the week, I had to answer. Is there anything you’d like to invent? Feel free to share with us in the community or better still, check out other prompts for the week here.
