Welcome to my blog. My name is @oluthomas, and for this entry, I’ll be singing a cover of a song by Apostle Joshua Selman. He is an Apostle from the northern part of Nigeria, known all over the world for how deeply he has impacted lives through his teachings.
Apostle Selman often says that if you want your songs to carry weight and remain relevant, they must be birthed by the Spirit of God. He has released countless songs many of which went viral without any major publicity or even recording them in a studio. That’s a unique kind of grace on its own. But if you’ve not reached that level, it’s important not to try to copy his method.
When it comes to the things of God, we all have our individual dealings with Him. What God tells me to do for my spiritual growth might be completely different from what He tells someone else. So my best advice today is this: never try to copy someone else’s walk with God. Instead, trust the Holy Spirit to guide you in your own unique journey.
The song I sang wasn’t recorded in a studio either, yet it has been heard all over the world and in many churches. It’s a song of worship to our God not a song of demand or request. I’ve come to realize that it’s not always about asking God for something, but about giving Him thanks and exalting His name above every other name.
Finally, I want to leave you with this thought: the grace of God upon each of us is different. Never compare your grace with another person’s. Instead, if you desire a similar grace at work in someone’s life, place a demand on God, and He will release it to you for the growth of His kingdom.
