Good day, people of Hive! Welcome to my blog. Today’s topic is from Hive-Reachout, and it says: **Should things be private or transparent in relationships?** So let’s dive in.
Honestly, every relationship should be built on trust and I think both privacy and transparency, are important in maintaining relationship so that it won't crumble. However, some people believe that once we are in a relationship, there should be no secrets at all—everything must be open and shared. While others believe that even if they are in a healthy relationship where both partners trust each other, they should still have their own personal space and not share everything.
---
**What is transparency in relationships?**
Transparency means being open and honest with our partners. It means not hiding any secrets that can affect the relationship to crumble. It also means telling our partners our plans, where we are going, our challenges, what we are doing, and so on. If we are transparent with our partners, they will feel safe, happy, and trust us because they know what is going on in our lives.
**What is privacy in relationships?**
Privacy means having our own personal space. Having privacy does not mean we are hiding something bad from our partner, but it helps us feel in we're in control of our lives.

I have seen in many movies how one partner puts a password on their phone, and when the other partner tries to open it and sees a password, they immediately think something is being hidden. But let me say this—keeping a phone password does not mean someone is hiding a secret. That’s why trust matters in a relationship. If there is trust, even when both partners have passwords on their phones, they won’t question each other because they believe in the bond they share.

Where the problems start is when one partner wants full transparency while the other prefers privacy. The truth is, in relationships, we cannot think the same way all the time. When both partners have different opinions on transparency and privacy, misunderstanding will definitely happen because there's no trust.
**How can this be solved?**
The best way to handle this is through communication. Both partners should sit down and talk about what they are comfortable with. A relationship is not about forcing or controlling each other but about understanding each other.
Personally, I don’t see anything wrong with privacy or transparency as long as it does not affect the relationship and the trust between me and my partner is still strong, then there is no problem.
In conclusion, a healthy relationship needs both privacy and transparency. Some people believe that too much transparency means they have no freedom, but that’s their perspective. Others believe too much privacy means the person is hiding something. At the end of the day, what matters most is trust, communication, and understanding.
