Experiencing Constipation; A Big Medical Deal or Not

I got up at the early hours of the morning, and I was craving bean cake so bad, bearing in mind that my baby loves it a lot, I was very eager to make them, and I hurried up with it before my champ woke up. It was delicious and I was satisfied. I don't know if it had to do with the amount of bean-cake I had that morning or something else, but I am sure I did not quite enjoy myself for the rest of the day, because constipation took its toll on me. ![Stomach_pain.jpg](https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/b6/Stomach_pain.jpg) [wikimedia](https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Stomach_pain.jpg)

Let's see about constipation, what it is, and other things I believe you will enjoy. There are several reasons why constipation can happen. It may be because stool is passing too slowly through the colon, and the slower the food moves through the digestive tract, the more water the colon gets to absorb, and the harder the stool gets.

Constipation may also occur because there is a blockage in the small or large intestines. If this is the case, then urgent medical attention is required; it may sometimes be due to the lack of water or fiber. Constipation is one of the most common gastrointestinal complaints in the United States.

Constipation covers different types, each coming with its own characteristics and underlying factors. Functional constipation, also known as primary constipation, is a common type that usually affects children and adults, marked by infrequent and difficult bowel movements. This functional constipation type is further classified into other types.

Normal transient constipation, which has the colon functioning normally, producing stools at different intervals, but still creating the feeling of constipation in the affected individual, and bowel movement is less common too. Outlet constipation, on the other hand, is happening due to pelvic floor dysfunction; the pelvic floor includes the muscles that support the bladder, bowel, and uterus.

When the reason behind constipation cannot be identified, then it is classified as idiopathic constipation. This is most often due to a chronic, long-term condition. A person with this type of constipation will usually experience infrequent, incomplete, or difficult movement of the bowel.

Now, let's move to the secondary type of constipation, which happens as a result of an underlying medical condition, an unhealthy lifestyle habit, or certain medications. When constipation is caused by lifestyle habits, then it can be treated with the same energy. Patients will be advised to consume more water, get more exercise, and consume more high-fiber meals.

Outlet constipation, happening as a result of pelvic floor damage, usually requires physical therapy for treatment. Through this method, the pelvic floor muscles are strengthened, and at other times, medications or surgery are opted for.

To determine the type of constipation you have, you will need the guidance of a medical expert who will confirm through a diagnostic test what the problem is and attempt to get the health issue resolved. Certain complications can happen, although this is not so common, but it is possible; tears of the anus lining, swollen and inflamed veins in the rectum, infection in the pouches, damage to the muscle of the pelvic floor, and the accumulation of excessive poop in the rectum and anus.

I got better after two days and drank a, so I didn't have to go to the hospital, but when a case of constipation lasts longer than usual or causes serious discomfort, a visit to a medical center is highly essential.
