You will be surprised to know how many people are still trying to shy away from the realities of technology, especially in third-world countries, because they are scared of evolution, but I believe it will only take time before the reality of this age and time catches up with them. I remember a few years ago, a lot of women, especially local traders, didn't like the idea of an ATM card, because they were really scared of losing their money; they would rather travel to a physical bank to get their money withdrawn.
However, when the reality of COVID-19 came, it pushed everyone to embrace technology, whether it was a liked option or not; no one had to preach the use of ATM cards and internet banking to anyone, life itself forced us to embrace the change. Almost everyone now operates in a cashless economy, and you will be surprised to find an old woman with just a few things on her stall, embracing the transfer with the whole of her heart. A few years ago, this was not the reality of things.
Imagine how we can now conveniently work from the comfort of our homes. For me, the best gift that ease technology has given me at this moment. As a Mum to a toddler, I registered him in pre-school but immediately had to withdraw him after the serious episode of infection he had, the stress of taking care of him, and the overwhelming stress of meeting the needs of other family members was overwhelming on its own. I cannot imagine adding the daily jumping from one bus to the other to that stress.
I live far away from town so it would have been very difficult to comfortably move around, but being able to schedule myself to work from the comfort of my home while I get my boy busy with other engaging activity, although this is not a smooth ride, but I am pleasantly embracing the technological ease that allows me work from home because I know it is easier than having to jump vehicle to vehicle to work everyday.
