Makoko is an informal settlement across the 3rd Mainland Bridge located on the coast of mainland Lagos, Nigeria. A third of the community is built on stilts along the lagoon and the rest is on the land. The waterfront part of the community is largely harboured by the Egun people who migrated from Badagary and Republic of Benin and whose main occupation is fishing.
Basically, the concept behind the artwork was initially challenging due to the fact that medium I was to use that's the coloured pen was a medium I haven't used before but then when I started the work I began to see something interesting and quite beautiful using coloured pens, I discovered a unique way of blending colours to give an amazing effect on the artwork ..the wall of the house, the water effect and the perspective distance of the building were the significant parts of the work I created for viewers to see and feel the effective use of coloured pen.
