Recently i started a movement called #WarAgainstTribalBigots. It's still New but I'm still getting the words out in Tweets and Instagram post.
The major Tribes in my country are close to a dozen, but Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba are the mostly recognized ones both locally and internationally. Unfortunately Geopolitical dispensing is not helping as each tribes settled interwovenly, most especially in the Northern and Middlebelt of my country.
What prompted this movement was the rate at which cultural differences is creating lot of chaos in my home country. Not that it's a new thing but it's becoming more rampant and despite the level of education in each Tribe, nobody wants to spearhead this movement to correct this fundamental error.
People who deem it feat to consider another tribe inferior to theirs are partial racists, I mean it's like considering another race inferior, so I take anyone who address me or any other individual as a Tribal Bigot and I do not hesitate to counter such a myopic view openly or privately.
What Tribalism has Costed Us
The Biafra Civil war in my country was as a result of this evil, thousands of lives were lost and till date the same tribe that spearheaded that's civil war are the major players in this uncivilized habit of condemning other tribes aside from theirs.
Sadly political and Government office holders are usually selected by this criteria more than credibility and level of education. For this singular act, a lot if misfits had been elected into Powerful positions and these Individuals are spearheading community clashes along side Religious Crises.
Tribalism is one of the detrimental factors to the economy, decision makers were appointed into strategic offices based on their relationship with the ruling Tribe, that is the Tribe in the apex office position in the Government.
In the United State, their was tribal war, civil wars between the native Indians and the Americans, you must have read about Pocahuntas and the likes, these are not stories the Americans are proud of if you have watched documentaries and movies as regarding Tribalism.
How long will that continue? A country with waning resources at war with each other?
Tribalism is a cankerworm that must be destroyed, what and how do you think you could help put an end to this internal menace? By spreading the words on the dangers of each tribe feeling superior to another, we can't leave in the follies of our forefathers and expect growth and total development!
