Oh I finally get the hype. I was waiting for the second season to come out so I don’t get stucked sulking after it, the way they did me for Hell’s paradise and chainsaw man. By the way, the reze arc of chainsaw man is out and I haven’t had time to go see it yet but I heard it’s amazing. I can’t wait to see it man.
I have been watching dandandan for a while and although I didn’t have the energy in me to binge watch an entire season in one night, the same way I did solo leveling season 2(yes, I watched the second season after saying I wouldn’t till 2027.)
Little flash to the current time and world: I slept off mid writing this and I am continuing after 9 hours. I just…you know thought you guys needed to know that;)
Anyways, Dandandan is a series about Momo and Okarun. It’s about aliens and spirits. Very crazy combo, I know — I thought the same thing too.
The story begins with a simple argument. Momo Ayase is a spirited high school girl who firmly believes in ghosts but thinks aliens are nonsense. Ken Takakura, nicknamed “Okarun” by Momo, is the complete opposite—he’s convinced aliens exist but scoffs at the idea of ghosts. Like any good disagreement between teenagers, they decide to settle it with a bet. Momo will visit a UFO hotspot to prove aliens don’t exist, while Okarun will explore a haunted tunnel to prove ghosts aren’t real. It seems like a harmless challenge, but things go spectacularly wrong for both of them. When Momo arrives at the UFO location, she’s suddenly abducted by actual aliens called the Serpoians, who have disturbing plans for her. Meanwhile, Okarun’s trip to the haunted tunnel introduces him to Turbo Granny, a terrifying yokai spirit with incredible speed and malicious intent. Both teens barely escape with their lives, but their troubles are just beginning. Okarun becomes possessed by Turbo Granny, gaining supernatural powers but losing something rather important in the process—his genitals, which the spirit steals and scatters across different locations as golden orbs.
