Hello everyone, heard the second season of blue eye Samurai is in production and would likely be released next year and my excitement, I am unable to hide it. Recently recommended it to a friend and decided oh, why don't I try to draw her?
It all started with me not having any idea what I'm doing. I kept the reference in front of me and just started drawing. But before I begin, who's the blue eye Samurai? Her name is Mizu, she's a mixed-race warrior that appears to be male. Mizu has blue eyes due to her half white heritage, which makes her an outcast in a country that has closed it's borders to foreigners.
The story centers on Mizu's quest for revenge against the white men who she believes are responsible for her difficult life.
Trained by a blind swordsmith named Eiji, Mizu forges her own legendary sword and cuts a bloody path through Japan. Her main target becomes Fowler, an Irish gunrunner operating in Japan’s criminal underworld.
Along the way, she’s joined by Ringo (her loyal apprentice) and encounters Taigen (a samurai from her past) and Akemi (a noblewoman fighting her own battles against societal constraints).
The series explores themes of identity, belonging, and the cost of revenge as Mizu struggles with her dual nature - being both an outsider seeking acceptance and a deadly warrior leaving destruction in her wake.
The story balances brutal samurai action with deep character development, questioning whether Mizu’s quest will bring her peace or only perpetuate cycles of violence.
Alright back to the sketch. I'd already gone a tad bit far before remembering I wasn't documenting my progress.
This is me still figuring what I was drawing:
This is further and down the hill
And then, the final look.
Thanks for reading;)
