‎I read a book on Wattpad called Duplicity once. Turned out to be one of the best mafia books I'd ever read my entire life. I loved it so much and even risked studying for it. I came across this movie and the name stopped me in my scroll, Tyler Perry's duplicity. Now, I'm sure this movie has some history cause the name sounded weird but I didn't do any digging. I just cleared out some of my schedule for the evening and saw the movie. ‎ images (3).jpeg Source ‎Let's begin with the plot of the movie. Marley Wells is a powerhouse attorney who thinks she's got life figured out until her world gets turned upside down. Her best friend Fela's husband Rodney gets shot and killed by a police officer during what should have been just another morning jog through their upscale neighborhood. The cop claims he mistook Rodney for a threat, but something doesn't sit right. ‎ ‎What looks like a clear-cut case of police brutality becomes Marley's most personal battle yet. She teams up with her boyfriend Kevin, a former cop who now works as a private investigator, thinking they'll expose the truth and get justice for her grieving friend. But this case has more layers than an onion, and each one makes Marley's eyes water a little more. ‎ ‎The deeper she digs into Rodney's death, the more she realizes that everyone in her circle is hiding something big. The people she trusts most start looking suspicious, and paranoia becomes her new best friend. Kevin and Tony, another ex-cop she once helped out, begin acting strange. Really strange. Like "let's drug Marley and kidnap her when she gets too close to the truth" strange. ‎ ‎Suddenly Marley isn't just fighting for justice anymore. She's fighting to stay alive in a twisted game where the rules keep changing and the players aren't who they seem. The case that was supposed to be about police accountability becomes a nightmare about betrayal, deception, and how well we really know the people we love. ‎ images (4).jpeg Source ‎Every revelation makes Marley question everything she believed about her relationships, her career, and her own judgment. Sometimes the most dangerous enemies are the ones sleeping in your bed. And this just summed it up to that beautiful book! I might just reread it again. It's been five years now, I might not remember everything I hope. ‎ ‎Anyways, it's a peak movie if this is your type of genre. Thankyou for reading.
