The morning was cooler after another too warm and restless night that refused to let the air breathe. A nice wind finally stirred the heavy humidity in the morning, like a slow fan in a crowded room. Temperatures promised to sink back to around twenty five degrees, which felt like a relief after the stubborn heat the last days. My walk around Mierendorff Island was slower than usual, with no intervals and no rush, because two sleepless nights had left me sluggish. Yet the path still offered small gifts. I carried home a cluster of hydrangea blossoms, they reminded me that even tired steps could still collect beauty.
Der Morgen war kühler nach einer weiteren zu warmen und unruhigen Nacht, die der Luft keine Pause ließ. Ein Wind bewegte morgens endlich die schwere Feuchtigkeit, wie ein langsamer Ventilator in einem vollen Raum. Die Temperaturen sollten wieder auf etwa fünfundzwanzig Grad sinken, was nach der hartnäckigen Hitze die letzten Tage wie eine Erleichterung wirkte. Mein Rundgang um die Mierendorffinsel war langsamer als sonst, ohne Intervalle und ohne Eile, weil mich zwei schlaflose Nächte träge gemacht hatten. Doch der Weg schenkte trotzdem kleine Momente. Ich brachte einen Strauß Hortensienblüten mit, die mich daran erinnerten, dass auch müde Schritte Schönheit sammeln konnten.
