Greetings community, grateful for the invitation of @tonyes to participate in the initiative proposed by @brujita18, about the things that seemed a luxury to us as children.

I am going to place you in the mid 60's, in Cuba, the first years of revolution, without contact with the outside and although not like today, we had thousands of shortages.

I am from the capital, but from a peripheral neighborhood, which meant that our parents were workers and we all had more or less the same because things were rationalized.

You got 3 toys, a basic one and two less expensive ones, they were given at the beginning of the year for Three Kings Day and for example in the store that parents had to buy, there were only 3 bicycles or 4 beautiful dolls, that is, the most desired toys for children could be few and you could get what there was and that was it.

It was a luxury for your parents to get the toy you wanted, even if it was a game of Yaquis or Parcheesi. We had to learn that you played with whatever you had and we also learned to share toys.

I also remember that my father worked in the port of Havana and as ship's chief they gave him bread with ham as a snack, or apples and other things that were not available here, for my sister and me it was a luxury that my father brought us those things.

To be able to have chocolates was another immense luxury, because we grew up without sweets.

However, every weekend we would go for a walk with my parents, to the beach, to an amusement park, to the zoo or to family reunions, how much we loved Sundays! What immense happiness, but I saw it as something normal.

When I grew up I realized that it was not only a luxury, but a privilege to have the parents I had and the family that gave me so much love and whom I will never be able to thank in my lifetime.
