The phrase "love is blind" is very complex because it has different meanings depending on what context it has been used in.While love is a beautiful thing and has often been celebrated for its transformative power, the idea of it being blind can be interpreted in both positive and negative lights.
I believe that when people say "love is blind," what they are trying to say is that because of love or the emotional feelings they have for their partners, it makes them overlook their partner's flaws or weaknesses; instead, they choose to focus on the qualities that drew them together in the first place. In this sense, we can all agree that love is a powerful force that enables people to accept and support each other despite imperfections. However, there are some sets of people that have taken the interpretation of this phrase too far. For instance, there are people, ladies especially, who keep staying in a relationship that they are being subjected to either physical, emotional, or mental abuse or even more and are justifying the notion by saying that "love is blind."I don't think anyone should endure any kind of harm or mistreatment all in the name of love. True love uplifts and protects, not harms or diminishes.
I have been in love and am still in love, and I must tell you that it's a beautiful experience. To be able to give out love, we must first know what love really means, and the Bible has described this perfectly and beautifully in 1 Corinthians 13:4-6: “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, and it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.” Anything outside these qualities isn’t love in its purest form.
One of the main problems people face in relationships is their unwillingness to give their all to the person they claim to love, or those that choose to give their all are giving to someone who doesn’t appreciate or reciprocate their efforts, and this has led to a lot of heartbreak.
I also think before we can love others genuinely, we must learn to love and respect ourselves first and know our worth; this would help in setting a standard for how others should treat you. It would also make you become more discerning about who you let into your life and more courageous in setting boundaries.
