They tried to have one final rooftop dinner, but the late-August storm had other plans.
We planned a unique dinner, definitely in a different location. We chose the rooftop of a friend's building. We prepared everything, including lights, tables, and a few other small items.
That night, the weather was perfect. We were all very happy. The wind was blowing cool and comfortable. From a distance, we saw flashes of lightning. We hoped the weather wouldn't change until we reached our destination.
The next moment, the sky darkened directly above our rooftop. We all looked at each other. Was this a good sign? The wind began to change, the tablecloth began to lift, and the plates and glasses began to rattle.
Dreams of rain began to wet our place. Each of us began holding our own plates and glasses. Finally, one by one, we began to quickly and carefully descend the narrow stairs.
The narrow kitchen with its ceramic tile floor became our gathering place. Jokes and laughter consoled us despite the failure of our dinner. But we were still happy and grateful that we could still enjoy a meal together.
