Good morning, fellow members of the beautiful Hive ecosystem. Here we are with 1 degree Celsius on our bodies and a few hot ideas in our heads. The cold weather isn't letting up in Argentina, but neither is my desire to be here and, in this case, writing a little. >! [Spanish] Buen día, compañeros del bonito ecosistema de Hive. Acá estamos con 1 grados centígrados en el cuerpo y unas cuantas ideas calientes en la cabeza. El frío no afloja en la Argentina, pero tampoco mis ganas de estar aquí y en este caso, escribiendo un poco. > > ___  Yesterday something happened that got me thinking, and you know that when something happens to me, I write about it. It turns out that a company I've been working with quite often [Tierra Brava](https://tierrabrava.com.ar/) organizes sporting events and they called me because I create audiovisual content and I'm also in the business. They called me again to make a reel for [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/DMbK8bXSWWG/). So far, so good. >! [Spanish] El día de ayer me pasó algo que me dejó pensando y ya saben que cuando algo me sucede, sale una publicación. Resulta que una empresa con la que vengo laburando (*trabajando*) bastante seguido [Tierra Brava](https://tierrabrava.com.ar/). Ellos se encargan de realizar eventos deportivos y me convocan, ya que creo contenidos audiovisuales y además soy del palo. Volvieron a llamarme, para que le realizara un reel para [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/p/DMbK8bXSWWG/). Hasta ahí, todo normal. > > ___  Now, many believe that making a 60-second reel is easy. Some family members tell me, “It's only a few minutes, after all.” Of course, these are people who have never sat down to edit, with cold hands and washed-out mate. The truth is that there is a lot of work behind it. Editing, choosing the music, keeping the rhythm, telling a story in such a short time, and many other things. It's not magic, it's really work, and even more so for someone like me who still considers myself a learner. Although a friend tells me that it's simply a lack of confidence (*topic for another post*). >! [Spanish] Ahora bien, muchos creen que hacer un reel de 60 segundos es cosa fácil. Algunos familiares me dicen, total son unos minutos 🤔. Por supuesto, son personas que jamás se sentaron a editar, con las manos frías y el mate lavado. Lo cierto es que hay laburo detrás y mucho. Editar, elegir la música, cuidar el ritmo, contar una historia en tan poco tiempo y muchos etcéteras. No es magia, realmente es trabajo y más aún, para una persona como yo que me considero un aprendiz todavía. Aunque un amigo me dice que es simplemente falta de confianza (*tema para otro post*). > > ___   It's not the first time I've worked with them, and since I wanted to earn their trust and gain experience, I charged them a really low price for quite some time. Let's say I charged them x Argentine pesos, and after several videos and needing to get closer to my goals (*being able to pay for gas, since it's so cold🥶*), I decided to raise my price and charge them triple. >! [Spanish] No es la primera vez que trabajo con ellos y como quería ganarme su confianza y ganar experiencia, durante un buen tiempo les cobré un precio realmente económico. Digamos que les cobraba x pesos argentinos y después de varios videos y con la necesidad de acercarme más a mis metas (*poder pagar el gas, ya que estamos con tanto frío🥶*), decidí subir mi precio y cobrarles el triple. > > ___  And here comes the part that genuinely surprised me. They paid me without complaint. No “hey, you're crazy” or “we don't have the budget.” On the contrary, they valued my work, liked the delivery time, and paid me. Of course, it's not enough to pay for gas, but it does leave me with some very positive lessons. >! [Spanish] Y acá viene la parte que me sorprendió sinceramente. Me pagaron sin chistar (*sin quejarse*). Nada de “che, estás loco” o “no nos da el presupuesto”. Al contrario, valoraron mi trabajo, le gustó inclusive el tiempo de entrega y me pagaron. Por supuesto, no me alcanza para pagar el gas 😁, pero sí me deja enseñanzas muy positivas. > > ___  And these lessons, dear colleagues, go far beyond the audiovisual world. It made me think about us, those of us on Web 3, on Hive, creating, betting, sharing. How often do we struggle to value what we do? We put ourselves down, we wonder who is going to read us or how we are going to ask for more. Although there is no fixed salary at Hive and we simply generate income through incentives, we don't have to stick to a schedule or clock in. **We are here because we choose to be here**. Those incentives appear when we really add value to the chain, and believe me, there are people who work quietly, building from the shadows, cold, sleepy, and of course, passionate. Those who edit, curate, comment, encourage, and push the ecosystem forward, and sometimes don't even receive applause. >! [Spanish] Y dichas enseñanzas estimados compañeros, va mucho más allá del mundo audiovisual. Me hizo pensar en nosotros, los que estamos en la web 3, en Hive, creando, apostando, compartiendo. Cuántas veces nos cuesta ponerle valor a lo que hacemos ¿No? Nos tiramos abajo, pensamos en quién me va a leer o cómo voy a pedir más. Si bien en Hive, no existe un sueldo fijo y acá generamos simplemente por los incentivos, no cumplimos horarios y ni tenemos que fichar. **Estamos porque decidimos estar**. Esos incentivos aparecen cuando aportamos realmente valor a la cadena y créanme que hay gente que trabaja en silencio, construyendo desde las sombras, con frío, con sueño y por supuesto con pasión. Quién edita, cura, comenta, anima y empuja el ecosistema y en ocasiones no recibe ni aplausos. > > ___   As with love, we often regret things when it is too late. That is why we must take care of builders, those who are out there every day putting themselves on the line, as we say in Argentina. Time is fleeting, dear colleagues, and it passes in a second. So while we are here, while we are building, let us be happy, let us appreciate and value each other. >! [Spanish] Al igual que pasa en el amor, muchas veces nos arrepentimos cuando ya es tarde. Por eso debemos cuidar a los constructores, a los que están todos los días poniéndote el pecho a las balas, como decimos en Argentina. Así que mientras estamos por aquí, mientras construimos, seamos felices, valoremos y valorémonos. > > ___  One technique I use when these issues arise is to do what I do every day, but twice as much.
