Hola, querido hiver.
Cuando elegí para visionar esta película tenía mis dudas porque era posible que hubiera quedado desfasado en el tiempo. Lo que se plantea en Her no queda lejos de lo que podemos hacer desde hace mucho con Chat GPT, su corte de sucedáneos y el resto de algoritmos de inteligencia artificial.
Todo el peso de la película recae sobre Theodore, un escritor fantasma que trabaja en una empresa redactando cartas para otras personas. Está en proceso de divorcio y se siente muy solo. Un día se compra un sistema operativo basado en inteligencia artificial que está diseñado para satisfacer cualquier necesidad que se le presente a su propietario. Para sorpresa de Theodore, se enamora perdidamente de su voz femenina.
Esta cinta es un ejercicio filosófico en toda regla. No solo por la profundidad de los diálogos sino porque como espectador no puedes dejar de hacerte las mismas preguntas que el protagonista. Algunas de las que acudieron a mi mente fueron: ¿De verdad puede un ser humano enamorarse de un sistema operativo? ¿Qué es realmente el amor? ¿La idea de amor está en nuestra mente o en alguna otra parte? ¿Y qué pasa cuando la persona que amamos se muere? Porque la seguimos queriendo a pesar de que ya no existe, como tampoco existe el sistema operativo...
Centrándonos en la parte interpretativa, Joaquin Phoenix lleva sobre sus hombros todo el peso de la película sin despeinarse. Admiré mucho cómo transmite las emociones que siente su personaje mientras habla al aire. Me pareció un trabajo increíble, que al investigar para hacer esta reseña encuentro que no fue demasiado tenido en cuenta en su momento. Hasta entonces su papel más destacado había sido el del malísimo emperador Cómodo en Gladiator.
Mención aparte merecen las actrices que prestaron su voz para Samantha, un personaje que es invisible y con el que consiguen hacernos empatizar y sentir que es humana: Scarlett Johansson en la versión original e Inés Blázquez en la versión en español.
La ambientación me gustó mucho, en especial las imágenes nocturnas de la ciudad. Son preciosas. La fotografía está muy cuidada, colocándonos en la atmósfera que la trama requiere, pasando del estrés urbano a la pulcritud de la empresa o a un hogar que transmite la soledad por la que transita el protagonista.
Por lo demás, destacaré que esta película es un ejemplo de que se puede hacer ciencia ficción sin utilizar efectos especiales complejos. Contiene grandes diálogos y situaciones con los que podemos identificarnos ya mismo, esta época en la que las relaciones personales son cada vez más virtuales y en la que a pesar del aumento de conexiones nos sentimos más y más solos.

When I chose to watch this film I had my doubts because it was possible that it was outdated in time. What Her is about is not far from what we have been able to do for a long time with Chat GPT, its cut of surrogates and the rest of artificial intelligence algorithms.
The entire weight of the film falls on Theodore, a ghostwriter who works for a company writing letters for other people. He is going through a divorce and feels very lonely. One day he buys an artificial intelligence-based operating system that is designed to meet whatever needs its owner has. To Theodore's surprise, he falls madly in love with its female voice.
This film is a philosophical exercise in every sense of the word. Not only because of the depth of the dialogue, but also because as a viewer you can't help but ask yourself the same questions as the protagonist. Some of the questions that came to my mind were: Can a human being really fall in love with an operating system? What is love? Is the idea of love in our mind or somewhere else? And what happens when the person we love dies? Because we still love her even though she no longer exists, just as the operating system no longer exists...
Focusing on the acting, Joaquin Phoenix carries the whole weight of the film on his shoulders without a fuss. I really admired the way he conveys the emotions his character feels as he speaks on air. I thought it was an incredible job, which in doing the research for this review I find was overlooked at the time. Until then his most prominent role had been that of the evil emperor Commodus in Gladiator.
The actresses who lent their voices to Samantha deserve a special mention, a character who is invisible and with whom they manage to make us empathise and feel that she is human: Scarlett Johansson in the original version and Inés Blázquez in the Spanish version.
I really liked the setting, especially the night-time images of the city. They are beautiful. The photography is very careful, placing us in the atmosphere that the plot requires, going from urban stress to the neatness of the company or to a home that transmits the loneliness through which the protagonist passes.
Otherwise, I would point out that this film is an example of how science fiction can be made without the use of complex special effects. It contains great dialogue and situations that we can identify with right now, in this era in which personal relationships are increasingly virtual and in which, despite the increase in connections, we feel more and more alone.
I recommend it and hope that if you see it you will let me know what you think.
