Greetings, lovely people of #TopFamily. This is my first time here, and I would like to participate in your [Initiative](https://peakd.com/hive-192096/@lanzjoseg/concurso-observa-piensa-escribe-4154be1e850af), Observe, Think, and Write. The photo by @lanzjoseg really caught my attention and brought to mind a story that I wish were true. Here it is. I hope you like it.

A long time ago, when I was younger, I used to go to a store that had a wide variety of products. Among them were nail polishes. I always liked dark colors like black, burgundy, dark green, and so on, but one day, while browsing the store counter, I noticed a color that caught my attention. It was a fluorescent orange, and I found it funny that it was the most popular color, yet no one was buying it.
Without thinking too much about it, I picked up a bottle to look at it more closely and noticed that another girl my age picked it up without hesitation and put it in her shopping cart. I said to her, โAre you really going to wear that color?โ She said, โWhy not? It's eye-catching and I like it.โ
As the days passed, I noticed that this girl with her fluorescent tastes used to come to the store on the same day I did, and like me, she went straight to the nail polish section. Every time we saw each other, we chatted a little more until we became great friends.
Time passed, things changed, and she had to leave the country because of the unbearable situation we have in Venezuela, looking for a better quality of life. I, on the other hand, decided to stay and remain in my homeland. I couldn't bear to be away from Venezuela. Her departure hurt me a lot, and I thought we would lose contact.
However, she wanted to do something nice for me and promised that as soon as she was completely settled into her new life, she would find one day a week to keep up our โfriendship ritual,โ which was to meet at a store, buy nail polish in colors that no one else would wear, and then do our manicures together.
The days passed, and she kept her word. I missed her a lot, and she noticed. So she focused on making me laugh with her jokes; she always knew how to make me laugh. And before we started our ritual, she asked me to go to our usual store and buy the color she would use. For her part, my friend would buy a color on the same day in her city, but as if I were the one who would use it.
So we did, and one Friday she video called me. She asked me if I had chosen her color, I said yes and showed it to her. She smiled at me and said excitedly, โI can't believe it! We bought the same color,โ and showed me her bottle of fluorescent orange nail polish.
We both remembered the first day we met and wanted to honor our tradition with this lovely gesture. Since then, every Friday we meet virtually to chat for hours and do our manicures together, separated only by distance.

When friendship is true, no distance can separate it. I hope you enjoyed my story. Until my next post, best wishes and happy midweek!
