We have many talented artists in our country and here are some wonders on show.
This beautiful lady is a real showpiece.
My leg was sore, as we had walked some distances, and so I let my zoom do the walking along the sea front to get the sculpture shots. The sculptures are situated along the promenade, and we were blown away by the beauty of the works. We were in the seaside town of Hermanus, and I do think that all of these art works are for sale. Hermanus is a whaling town as in history the whales were caught and processed here, but since the laws were changed to declare the whales as protected, the result was that the whales now come to Hermanus in order to breed every winter.
This guy had his binocs ready, as he searched for whales in the water.
Another shot of the lady with a different background.
I think that the guys are doing some kind of gymnastics.
This was also a stunning sculpture of a young girl, sitting and dreaming by the seaside.
The chap was also searching the water for whales.
I think we all know the silence gesture, by the finger on her lips.
And finally, this girl sculpture shows a lot of movement.
I think that you will also agree that these are all really stunning pieces of art on show and the sea in the background worked well in the photos, as it somehow seemed to project the artworks to one's eyes, especially the last two photos that give one a sense of a waterflow over the girl. You can see that a lot of work is put into the pieces, and we admire the talents of the artists' work that we see. Now I don't know how much time it would take to make any of these pieces, but I can tell you that you can see that a lot of love, or maybe passion went into the making of each piece.
After our visit here to the waterfront, we went in search of the harbor, and we arrived just in time to see a whale cruising boat coming in to dock. I was so delighted, that I even made a short video of it, and I bet that the tourists on the boat had a great sightseeing trip. Sadly, there were no whales yet, but they will soon start to arrive, and it is a joy to watch them from the rocks in the sea. I remember it well, as we have seen the whales before, and it is a great experience. I also know that there are a lot of travellers on Hive, and if ever you are thinking of visiting South Africa, then please put a visit to the whaling town Hermanus on your bucket list.
Here is a list of the artists names below if you are interested.
