A short 45 minute very scenic drive from Redcliffe to Samford Parklands parkrun today crossing over part of the D’Aguilar Range capturing views of the Samford Valley dotted with a few small farms and new housing developments. An out and back twice course on mainly concrete path with a small grass section with magpie geese and cattle grazing in an adjacent paddock giving a rural feel to the event. Samford is the only parkrun that I have attended that has a “Token Return Here” flag, a “Barcode Scanning” flag and a “Volunteer Here” flag plus an event schedule board and chalk board displaying upcoming events. Such a well organized parkrun with a friendly, welcoming volunteer team ensuring an energetic atmosphere and enjoyable experience for all. Purpose for my visit was to walk to manage my annoying knee issue in preparation for the Bridge to Brisbane fun run next weekend. Also to tick off a couple of parkrun challenges, #48 for the Golden Wilson challenge, second visit to Samford parklands which increases my Re-index by 1 and increase my parkrun volunteering location to 85 I had the pleasure of Tail Walker duties with Eve Petalio who is currently on a tourism streak and we exchanged information on parkrun touristing in between having to run twice to tack on to the last person as 2 participants retired during the course at different distances. Also enjoyed brief chats with Moreton Bay Road Runners associates Julie Parke, Scott Muir, Craig Pepper and Heather Elliott and also fellow Queensland Statesperson Erica Leota and partner Shaun Taylor discussing the addiction of the many parkrun challenges I enjoyed post parkrun coffee and toast at “The Long Yard Larder” café located nearby in the vibrant Samford Village
