Almost four week ago I broke my left wrist, and because of the cast was not able to play with my left hand. Four days ago, the cast came of again, so I could start playing again with two hands.
After three weeks in the cast, my wrist, joints and the finger are all quite stiff, so it'll take a lot of practise to restore my left hand to it's former agility. Nevertheless, I am happy to be able to play again with two hands.
The theme of this week's Open Mic was therefore very appropriate for me. Happiness is playing with two hands again! And what better piece to play than this light, sunny and joyous piece of Fortunato Chelleri? He was born in Germany, but lived and worked most of his live in Italy. In the few works of him I am familiar with, one can hear the joy of living the good live in Italy.
I've played this piece already for the Steemit Openmic two years ago and againg fir Sonic Groove Live. With it's wit and energy it is a fun piece to play and I need the practice. So, I hope you don't mind.
The recording was done with the Hauptwerk software and the sampleset, made by Sonus Paradisi, of the Schnittger organ in the St. Martini-kerk, Groningen (https://www.sonusparadisi.cz/en/organs/netherlands/groningen-st-martini.html).
All 6 of Fortunato's fugues can be downloaded on my site: http://partitura.org/index.php/chelleri-fortunato/
