Hive Open Mic, Week 50: Sonatina in C major by Friedrich Kuhlau, op. 20 nr 1

The theme of this week's Open Mic is of course ideally suited for organ music. The organ is mostly associated with church music and the main feasts of christianity are of course the birth of Jesus (Christmas) and the death and resurrection of Jesus (Easter). The cycle of live and death, the changing of the seasons and the rebirth of life in spring. The organ literature is filled with music that celebrates life and expreses the theme of rebirth over and over again.

I only have to pick one of the many many compositions available.

Instead, I play again something on the piano. And as last week, what I play is not related to the theme of this week at all. It is the playing itself, that is loosely tied into the theme. Last week was my first piece of piano playing in many many years. And I actually quite enjoyed it even though the piano and me have become terribly rusty. It'll take us quite a lot of practising to get us both back into shape. Nevertheless, my fingers still remember some of the pieces I played for my piano lessons 40 years ago. I picked one of them, a Sonata by ~~Johann~~ Friedrich Kuhlau.

You can see this performance as my rebirth as a pianist. Forgive me the obvious errors, I hope the pleasure in playing this again after so many years comes across.
