Namaste 🙏
Hope you all are doing great!!!
Today’s blog is going to be a very adventurous one in this blog. I will tell you guys about my experience of doing kayaking in the nine cornered Lake called Naukuchital near Nainital.
This is one of the best spot to do kayaking in Himalayas. This is the most lake and this lake is also very secluded as compared to the other lakes of this area. We came here, especially to do karaoke. You can check out my yesterday’s blog for the exact journey details from Nainital. We hired a rental Scooty from Nainital, and it took us around an hour to reaches here. Please check the link below to read the full story.

This was the time of off season that is of the monsoon at this time, this is the least touristy as compare to the other months and other seasons of the year. Another advantage of travelling in this season is the cheaper prices, but this comes at additional cost of sudden rainfall and landslides that could occur in hilly areas but luckily at the time when we reached here, the weather started to clear out.
We rented two kayaks at about ₹200 per hour that is less than three dollars per hour, and it’s very cheap. I did not imagine that we could get our own kayak for an hour in this beautiful lake, surrounded by the serine Hills and the misty mountains. This was just a dream come true for us as it was very budget friendly adventure that we were going to do.
The lake itself was very big. It felt like it would easily be a couple kilometres wide. There was no restriction of a particular area being reserved for kayaking. That was the best part. We had the whole lake for ourselves to explore, and we had the time of Full 60 minutes.
Before boarding into the rented kayak, I double checked the safety measurements that is the condition of life jacket, and also the condition of kayak. It felt okay, and now we were ready to go to the middle section of the lake.
This lake is also famous for being the deepest lake amongst the others in this area. I did not imagine this area to be this beautiful as you can see in this photograph. Another thing that was adding up to the landscape was the Misty fog that was being created as the rain started to pour.
This was quite an adventure and because of this adventure, our clothes were also getting wet, but we were not minding it at all, and we continued our adventure in Full high spirits. There was an inside of the lake and on that island, there was a little cottage. We were really curious to see what was that Cottage and so the first destination was that Cottage only.
In the picture below, you can see the Cottage I was talking about. It seemed like it was for rental purposes only and there was Pala form that was being built right next to it, but at the time it was empty and it didn’t look like someone was living there for a really long time.
So we kept on kayaking in this beautiful lake and just trolling around exploring all the nine corners of this mesmerising lake. The name of the lake itself suggests it’s nine corners. Nau means nine in Hindi and Tal is lake so Naukuchital means lake of nine corners.
This was indeed the best weather for kayaking as it wasn’t sunny at all. There was a cool temperature all around us because of the Misty wind that was blowing from the high mountain. The views were also magnificent as you can also see in the photographs that I am posting here. The fog was moving very fast, and it was a really dramatic site to see while kayaking in this lake, I had made some videos with my mobile phone, keeping it in my life jacket and using it like an action camera.
I might post those videos after making a compilation on 3 speak those videos are really amazing, and I think they will make a good compilation. Till that time, let me know in the comments, how did you like this blog of mine and what was the thing that you like the most. Also, please let me know about your favourite photo from the lot.
An hour pass just like a mountain breeze, and we lost the track of time while kayaking in this beautiful lake. The weather was also getting darker and more dramatic, and when the time was about to be over, we felt some raindrops falling onto us. We didn’t wanted to get stuck inside of the lake in danger because of the heavy rainfall that could happen any time, so we started to get to the shore and spend some time there .
This was not the end of the adventure, but the end of one chapter of adventure, only we had whole lot of other activities planned ahead in this trip that I’ll be posting in the next blogs till that time stay tuned.
Thanks for passing by🙏.
