Namaste 🙏

Hope you all are doing great!

Today I am going to take you to Jama Masjid, Nainital. As soon as we took the short cut from the Tiffin Top, we reached this intersection in the road which led us to the main town.

Right next to it, was this mosque. This is Jama Masjid, Nainital and it is built in 19 century in about 1880. This was built specifically for the Muslim soldiers who were in British Indian Army at that time. As this place was also one of the main places for the Britishers to live when they were ruling the India, and this is one of the few mosques that they have built during that time.

There is a huge playground next to the mosque as you can see in the photographs below. There is also a parking huge enough for a lot of vehicles to get parked just near the road and also there is a plenty of space available near the ground for parking your vehicles, so this is in the heart of the mental city, we can say, and the lake is also quite near to it.

The thing that attracted me, the most about this mosque was its architecture. The building itself is a huge one with lot of detailing and the artwork inspired from the Mugal era of the great Mogul empire.

This is clearly specimen of craftsmanship and hard work of all the people who were billing this masterpiece, buildings like this are meant to be forever, if kept well preserved. And this mosque is really well preserved for the future generations. As you can see in the photographs. The condition of this mosque is really good considering that time it has been passed since its creation.

The longer I was staring at the architecture of this beautiful creation. The more it mesmerised me there was very detailed artwork in all the windows as well as all the boundary areas of this mosque. There were many engraving and scriptures return on the walls as well. I was not able to capture the photographs from inside, but I managed to capture the detailed photographs of the outside structure of this mosque as you can see in the photographs below.

On the complete opposite end of this mosque was this huge playground. This was huge considering that it was built right next to the lake and it could be the most prominent residence area of this town, but the fate had something else planned for this piece of land and it was For good empty lands like these are quite rare in the middle of the town, especially when all the areas adjacent to this are fully occupied.

This playground is big enough for two games to be played at once one of cricket and one of football. Just imagine how huge this ground is. There is also a place for mountain climbing in the middle of this ground. The orange coloured structure that you see standing tall in this huge ground is the rock climbing wall that is used by the students and the adults who are interested into the rock climbing sports.

As we visited here in the month of off-season and there was a lot of rain just before we arrived there, so the streets are looking kind of empty, but in peak season, the story is completely different.

Now getting back to the mosque, I will be posting a couple photographs below of the detailed architecture and structure of this mosque for you guys to admire.

This was just the start of our second day in Nainital. We had a long adventure ahead of us and we were about to rent a Scooty from the town itself. We had to explore the adjacent towns and lakes around this area, and we had a really long day ahead of us. Stay tuned for the future blogs.

That’s all for today.

Peace ☮️
