Today I am gonna take you to one of the most sacred temple of Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. This temple is one of the most unique temples I’ve ever seen in even after visiting so many temples throughout the world.
The temple I am talking about is Golu Devta temple in Ghorakhal, this temple is famous for the bells which are all around there in the temple campus as you can see in the photographs below and another thing that this temple is famous for is the belief of fulfilling all the wants of the believers.
The main idea behind the concept of bells is that whenever you visit this temple, you write a letter to the Devta of the temple regarding your wish or wishes, and you type that in the temple campus along with the bell. And when your wish is granted, you come back with another bell and you tie it there.
All the bells that you can see are the proof that how strong the beliefs of the people are and how famous and important this temple is for them. There are millions of bells present here in this temple as you can see in the photograph.
In the photograph below, you can also see one of the letters which is being tied along with the bell that has been there in the temple. There are thousands and millions of other bills like this in the temple.
There was a huge line of people waiting to get inside of the temple. As soon as we entered the temple. It was the morning time when we arrived there, but in spite of that, also, they were a lot of people waiting in line to get inside of the temple and people were waiting for their turn to do the ritual or Pooja ceremony that happens inside of the temple.
We waited in line for about 15 minutes and waited for our turn to get inside. The ritual of this temple is that the head priest invites a handful of people waiting in the line and perform the Pooja ritual for them, and all the people taking part in the ritual act as a group, and then, similarly, the next group of people perform the same set of rituals.
Keeping the dignity of this place, I did not capture any photograph during the ritual and did not capture the photograph of the main area of the temple as well that you have to see yourself whenever you visit this holy place.
But let me tell you the experience of visiting this temple was one of a kind, and I haven’t seen any temple in my life like this before, and this is highly recommended to everyone who ever travels to Uttarakhand.
We spent around an hour in this temple and that are went by really peacefully. We were full of joy and peace when we got out of this temple and hoping that our lives would change for good.
