Well - If you ask me personally, I would not buy a christmas tree anymore. I can´t stand the though anymore, that a tree is growing for 5-10 years to be decorated for four weeks maximum and then gets collected and burned with thousands of other trees for nothing. But the family still insists. So - that the tree didn´t die in vain - I still use parts of it for different projects. Here is one (ok, two) of them.
Nun ja – wenn ihr mich persönlich fragt, würde ich keinen Weihnachtsbaum mehr kaufen. Ich kann es einfach nicht ertragen, dass ein Baum 5-10 Jahre wächst, um maximal vier Wochen lang geschmückt zu werden, um dann für nichts mit Tausenden anderen Bäume eingesammelt und verbrannt zu werden. Aber die Familie besteht aktuell noch darauf. Damit der Baum nicht umsonst gestorben ist, verwende ich immer noch Teile davon für verschiedene Projekte. Hier ist eines (oder besser gesagt zwei) davon.

I read that some people are using the branches to make a whiskfor the kitchen and I wanted to try something similar. In the first step you have to bind them in shape and let them dry like this for a few days. After that I removed the needles and the bark. I cut a pattern as a grip which is supposed to remind of the original appearance. For the dark color I used a lighter to flame the wood. Finally - enjoy!
Ich habe gelesen, dass manche Leute die Zweige verwenden, um einen Wirbel für die Küche zu basteln, und so etwas ähnliches wollte ich auch probieren. Zuerst müssen die Zweige in Form gebunden und einige Tage trocknen gelassen werden. Anschließend habe ich Nadeln und Rinde entfernt. Ich habe als Griff ein Muster reingeschnitten, das an das ursprüngliche Aussehen erinnern soll. Für die dunkle Farbe habe ich das Holz mit einem Feuerzeug angeflammt. Zum Schluss – guten Appetit!

Even the needles are full of healthy stuff like essential oil, vitamin c, tannins and more, so I made a salt for food and inhalation. But beware - never mistake a fir tree with the deadly toxic yew-tree, the needles look quite similar!
Sogar die Nadeln enthalten viele gesunde Inhaltsstoffe wie ätherisches Öl, Vitamin C, Tannine und mehr. Deshalb habe ich ein Salz zum Essen und Inhalieren hergestellt. Aber Vorsicht: Verwechselt niemals eine Tanne mit der tödlich giftigen Eibe, die Nadeln sehen sich recht ähnlich!
