Dragon Castle - Germany

I have always been fascinated by the beautiful and majestic castles around the world. Visiting them is like getting transported to a world of fairytales, magical spells, those palaces and kingdoms you have been grown up reading and watching as a child. So when I visited Germany for work, I couldn’t resist the joy of exploring as much as I could. As Germany hosts some of the most wonderful and majestic castles in the world.

Dragon Castle” or Schloss Drachenburg is a fairytale come true. It was built in 1880s and later restored . The palace stands on the Rhine River near the town of Koenigswinter. The architecture is a mix of Gothic and medieval style.

My journey started from the Koenigswinter train station and I took the option to go up by foot to enjoy the landscape. Took me about an hour to reach here. The views of the Rhine river and the Greater Bonn are spectacular. The interiors of the castle are as beautiful as the exterior. The ceiling is painted and is worth seeing. The conical roofs of this castle kept reminding me of how perfect a dragon hanging from those would look. A marvel of how perfect the name Dragon castle suits it.

You can spend an entire day soaking in the beauty around and the walking through the lovely gardens here. It is a very well maintained private property. I was glad to be able to be visit it on a perfect sunny day.
