Though it wasn’t our wedding, it felt just as special. From the moment we stepped into the venue, we knew it had the perfect charm for an intimate celebration. With soft lights, elegant fabrics, and carefully chosen floral details, we worked together to turn the space into something dreamy and meaningful for the couple.
It wasn’t just about putting decorations in place—it was about creating an atmosphere where love could shine, where memories could be made, and where every guest could feel the magic of the moment. Each ribbon tied, every candle lit, and every flower placed was done with heart.

A Windy Challenge Behind the Beauty To be honest, this setup wasn’t all smooth sailing. While the final look turned out magical, getting there was a real test of patience and teamwork. The biggest challenge we faced that day? The strong wind. The air was just too much—almost every time we placed a decoration, it would fly, shift, or fall out of place.
We found ourselves constantly checking everything—again and again. We couldn’t afford to walk away, even for a few minutes, without turning back to see something swaying or blown off. Some of the lighter pieces didn’t want to stay put, and it felt like the wind was playing games with us.
But despite the struggle, we didn’t give up. We adjusted our setup, doubled the fastenings, and even improvised in ways only a hands-on, passionate team could. We talked, laughed, and sometimes sighed in frustration, but at the end of the day, our goal stayed the same: to make sure everything looked beautiful and felt secure.
It was tiring, yes—but it also made the moment more meaningful. Seeing everything finally hold still and come together was like watching a storm pass and reveal a rainbow. The effort, the sweat, the challenges—all of it became part of the story behind the finished look. And honestly, those little behind-the-scenes struggles made the success even sweeter.
Before the Magic: A Look at YOLA’S Grill Restaurant in Liloan
Here’s a photo of the restaurant before we began decorating—just the way it looks on an ordinary day. YOLA’S Grill Restaurant, located in the heart of Liloan, Cebu, is known not only for its delicious grilled meals and local dishes but also for its spacious and open-air layout, making it a popular spot for gatherings and events.
What truly stood out to us was the wide open space available at the back of the restaurant. It’s a big area that can accommodate large groups, perfect for occasions like weddings, family reunions, or birthday celebrations. The space gave us plenty of room to work with, allowing us to set up a proper aisle, a romantic backdrop, and several decorated tables—all without the setup feeling crowded.
The open layout brought both opportunity and challenge. On one hand, we were free to design creatively without worrying about limited space. But on the other hand, the area was exposed to strong wind, which made it tricky to keep the decorations in place. Still, the size of the space gave the whole event a light, airy feel—guests could move comfortably, and there was enough room to highlight every detail we worked hard on.
YOLA’S may be a simple restaurant on regular days, but with its large open area and natural charm, it gave us the perfect canvas to turn an ordinary space into a romantic celebration. It reminded us that you don’t need an expensive venue to make something beautiful—you just need vision, heart, and teamwork.
Early Bird Moments and a Quiet Start I arrived at YOLA’S Grill very early that day, ready to start the setup—but my boss, who also happens to be my cousin, came a bit later (as usual 😅). While waiting for them, I just took the time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings of the place. It was still quiet, with no decorations, no crowd—just the calm before the big transformation.
The fresh morning breeze, the open space, and the soft sounds of nature around made the wait feel light. Sometimes it’s nice to pause before the busyness begins. Oh, and just in case you’re curious—getting there cost me ₱60 by motorcycle, which is a common ride here in Liloan. It’s a small trip, but for me, it always feels like the start of something meaningful, especially when it’s for a wedding project like this one.
Every setup tells a story—and this one reminded us that even with challenges like the wind and time pressure, love and teamwork always win. From the early morning preparations to the final touches, it was a beautiful journey made possible by passion, effort, and a shared goal to make the couple’s day truly unforgettable. YOLA’S Grill became more than just a venue that day—it became a space filled with emotion, celebration, and memories that will last.
