Sneezing is the involuntary action of the body to get rid of irritants in our airways. Because it is an involuntary mechanism, you cannot control its frequency or its duration. As long as the irritant is still in our airways, the sneezing will continue. It does come with a soothing relief though but for those of us who like to suppress it, there are things you should know. If you try to suppress a sneeze you can rupture a blood vessel. If this rupture happens in your head or neck, you can and die. You may want to keep this in mind next time you feel like sneezing…don’t suppress it! If you force your eyes to stay open while sneezing, they can pop out.
