Selling a Defect (Car Salesman Tricks) .:. WorkerBee PH-Pool Week 237

After a hot week with over 40 Degrees Celsius, we got a bit of relief as we went under that number... Not too much, but there is a difference... Another week, another topic, and another life/business lessons learned... and be advised... learned from the best! There is no better salesman than car dealers... ๐Ÿ˜‚ Or maybe there is?

WorkerBee Pool 237.jpg Created on Canva.com, using my photo as a background

Last week's main occupation was searching for a car for my son! He got his driver's license 2 months ago, and the last 60 days, he was on top of my and my wife's heads to buy a car! He got his savings and, of course, we helped him out to find a decent car on the market... As that "savings" isn't enough for a new car, our search was among cars around 20 years old, and believe me, there is a lot of junk! It was a quest, similar to finding a needle in a haystack!

Generally, I like cars (new and old), and I like to visit Car shows, checking on them, maybe test drive too... But, I dislike typical car salesmen, as in 99% they are almost all the same, with the same mission... To sell you the car, they have the biggest benefit, and not the car that you really need! On the other side, you can always learn some new tricks from those 1% that is more creative and innovative... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

For example, we had a guy who was selling "his" (actually, it was "his wife's"... or actually, who knows who was the owner... lol) Seat Ibiza that was 22 years old, but continuously repeating how the car is "new"... ๐Ÿ˜‚ The engine had over 200.000km and the chassis had stickerbumps over places where the corrosion was eating the car and where it was hit... and there was a lot of stickerbumps... ๐Ÿคฃ

We checked 4-5 more cars, but we had one obvious winner in the category "WTF man!?" ๐Ÿ˜‚ I think it was a Citroen C4 that we visited... The first look at the car was enough to realize that there are so many flashing red lights that you can't see the car in it... ๐Ÿ˜€ For example, it had more wrinkles than a 100-year-old man, and you couldn't even spot the "original line"... (that's why I said think it was a Citroen ๐Ÿ˜‚)... Also, the rubber band that goes under the side window looked like it was eaten by rats... ๐Ÿคฃ

Anyway, to not be a complete asshole and party breaker, I continued observing the car, asking the owner to start the car... Well, to my surprise (not), the car couldn't start at all! ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™‚ The brother of the salesman was coming with the cables, the 80-year-old grandma was yelling from the front door What's the problem?, and it was time for my son and me to go home... ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

The same day, late in the evening, we met a neighbor who was a car dealer too! He had a couple of cars, with some obvious defects... As he realized that we are close neighbors, it was obvious that he didn't want to sell any of the future, possibly every day, uncomfortable encounters on the street... It was time to change the strategy...

Liotes Divider Blue.png

No more car salesman... The new goal is to find the "end user" and buy it directly from the owner! And we did find one... Which we bought in the end... Yes, the price was a bit over the budget, but the difference between those cars that we checked the day before and this one was like comparing STEEM to HIVE... ๐Ÿ˜‚ But, how did he "get us" to buy it? What was the main selling point?

Firstly, honesty... I mean, all car salesmen will tell you they are honest, but you can "read" them, and in the end, that's their job, and you can't blame them if they slip a lie or two...

The second thing (which is the title of the post) was telling MORE about the car, selling a defect which isn't even visible on the car! In our example, it was telling that the car's shock absorbers in front have to be changed... The car had some smaller scratches on the chassis, but after saying that ONE thing, we didn't think about additional possible issues with the car... I don't know if that was the plan of the guy who was selling the car, but it worked perfectly for him, as we bought it!

Liotes Divider Blue.png

What did I learn from this "lesson"? I remember when I was selling my old cars/computers in the past, there were people who would "find" something wrong with it and stick to that one thing... Using it to bargain, to get a better price... It was ridiculous as I was selling the OLD THING, it's normal that something is wrong, outdated, or just worn out... In the end, it wouldn't be on sale if it's new, working great, and fulfilling the expectations of the owner!

We could implement the same logic in HIVE! We are an old blockchain that has its purpose, use case, its good sides, a lot of pros... But, it's not perfect, it also has its flaws and weak points... It's not the point to "hide the flaws" and to brag about great things only, or to try to be the Jack of all trades... We should focus on things that work the best for us, and for the rest, we can collaborate with other chains to use them to "cover our flaws"... In the same way, we would make new connections, growing the community, and growing stronger together... It's always easier to grow when you have more decentralized teams, focused on things that they are doing the best!

Oh... I owe you an answer to the question from the beginning of the post...

There is no better salesman than car dealers... ๐Ÿ˜‚ Or maybe there is?

The next step is to find a good insurance company that will not rip off the newly created car driver... More about that in the next post(s)! Maybe an insurance salesman can beat the car salesman? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Let's see the WorkerBee Pool numbers for this week... The WORKERBEE token price continued the drop, which means a good APR for those who decide to stake them!

This week, we have mined 98 BEE tokens in total, 14 more than the week before! That's awesome!

This week, we didn't get new delegators! But we got new delegations from old members, as usual! Thanks, guys! Appreciate your support!

This POOL doesn't have fees, and you get up to 20% MORE by delegating to it!

What about the bonus tokens?

This week, it's time to distribute the other token from the @liotes family, the CTPSB token! It is a token that was acquired from another project, and it is now managed by the @liotes team! A few tweaks have been implemented, so there are no worries for the token owners about the future... The APR for HODLers is still better than many others out there, and there is enough liquidity to go in and out of it...

There will be distributed 2.5 CTPSB tokens to the delegators of the pool as a bonus reward today!

image.png

2.5 CTPSB tokens will be distributed as a bonus... The APR (without the bonus) was 11.704%, and when we added the bonus, it went up to 14.20%!

I have calculated the ROI approximately with medium prices for all tokens when creating this post... So, those numbers are valid if you bought WB and sold BEE tokens at the middle HiveEngine price...

Do you want to sponsor the PH-Pool with your tokens, receive a short SPONSORED segment in this post, and raise awareness about your front-end or dApp? Please let me know in the comment section, or contact me through Discord or Twitter, and we will find the best solution for both parties...

If you want to join the WorkerBee PH-Pool, the only thing that you have to do is to STAKE tokens to YOUR account and DELEGATE your staked WORKERBEE tokens to THIS account (@ph1102)! Every week, you will get your portion of mined BEE tokens and BONUS rewards!

.:. DO NOT STAKE TOKENS TO MY ACCOUNT!!! Just DELEGATE! .:.
