Avoiding Burnout, One Break at a Time

It’s the middle of the week, which means I have to prepare for the upcoming team meeting this Friday. I would say this is the most stressful part of the week because I’m usually already tired from the workload, yet I still have to push myself to prepare the agenda for the meeting. Afterwards, I also need to write the minutes to be distributed to all participants.

That’s why I consider this the most challenging part of my week, which often leaves me feeling drained by Saturday.

So, on midweek days, I usually treat myself to some nice food and occasionally a drink to feel refreshed and re-energized. This is my way of regaining the motivation I lose during Monday and Tuesday. I think it’s important to find small ways to unwind, even in the middle of the week, as it helps me prevent burnout.

Taking small breaks in the middle of the week reminds me that balance is just as important as productivity. It doesn’t have to be something extravagant; even a simple meal or a quiet moment can go a long way in restoring energy. By giving myself this space, I’m able to approach the rest of the week with more clarity and motivation. Without these little pauses, the stress of work can easily pile up and lead to burnout. That’s why I believe self-care, no matter how small, should always be part of the weekly routine.
