I continue the topic of Stellar sea lion (northern sea lion).
This photo was taken by me on the island of Moneron in 2016.
In the photo, the family of the Steller sea lions is Mom and two of her baby-assortments. In difference from their closest relatives-northern fur seals, the female Steller sea lions keep in touch with their young for more than one year. And even in the second year, when they already have younger offspring, they actively take care of older children. The picture shows exactly the moment when the midsummer mother does not let her older calf go to rapprochement with me, in order to protect against possible danger.
Stellar sea lions. Monomad underwater.
