Este ha sido un sábado de reencuentro con el arte y la amistad. Temprano hice un recorrido en tren hasta la Habana, capital de Cuba, con la intención de visitar a mi amigo y colega Luis Enrique Camejo Vento...

Camejo es un pintor imparable, conversamos y compartimos mientras pintaba un cuadro...sus tematicas, usualmente rondan los paisajes citadinos, sobre todo descubriendo las luces de la Habana, con sus avenidas y habitantes...
Sucede que nuestra amistad inicio en los años de estudios en la Escuela Nacional de Artes Plásticas. Por eso he sido afortunado de ver su evolución artística. Desde pintura materica, puntillismo, hasta los paisajes y personajes citadinos, así como también su alcanzada maestría en el uso de la acuarela...
Camejo disfruta el arte de pintar en las clásicas técnicas del óleo y acrílico sobre lienzo...su constancia le ha sumado experiencia en el uso de dichas técnicas que el trabaja con un estilo muy original y enriquecedor.
En las paredes de su casa atesora obras de sus diferentes etapas de creación. Estas correponden al periodo de pintura materica, realizadas durante los últimos años de estudio en la Escuela Nacional de Arte...
Colgadas en la sala están obras más contemporáneas. Pinturas sobre lienzo, acrílicos y óleos, cartulinas con magníficas acuarelas, esculturas en bronce que dan una visión tridimensional de su obra pictórica, y hasta el gato de la casa parece una escultura cuando disfruta una siesta sobre el armario.... tremendo susto me dió cuando se movió jajaja...
Recuerdo que en mi visita anterior me mostró mucho de lo que aprendio y usa del arte Chino de las acuarelas y las tintas. Camejo es un artista que ha visitado varios países, por lo que ha absorbido parte de la cultura universal, enriqueciendo constantemente sus técnicas y visiones.
Debo comentarles y asi agradecer, que en los 9 años de estudios que compartimos en la Escuela Nacional de Arte y en el Instituto Superior de Arte, Camejo se convirtió en mi mentor en el campo de la pintura. Yo estudiaba la especialidad de Escultura, así que sus enseñanzas y recomendaciones contribuyeron a que hoy yo pueda también exhibir un camino dentro del arte pictórico, que ha sido el que generalmente me ha representado a nivel internacional.
La familia Camejo-Vento siempre me ha recibido como uno más. Compartimos un delicioso almuerzo, con variados platos de vegetales, pues saben de mi preferencia por la comida vegetariana. Uno de los placeres de Camejo es cocinar, y esta vez preparó un plato con Quimbonbo en salsa que estaba riquísimo!
La amistad es un tesoro invaluable, y cuando además de la vida se comparte el arte resulta en una experiencia maravillosa. Esta vez también dedicamos tiempo a ver viejas fotos en blanco y negro, y a reírnos de las travesuras y aventuras que compartimos en el pasado. Un poco para compartir nuestro pasado con su nueva pareja y su madre que vinieron a visitarlo esta tarde...
Espero que estén disfrutando de las obras de Camejo ( como le dicen también en el mundo artístico), pueden encontrar mucha referencia sobre su obra en la internet. Premios nacionales e internacionales avalan la calidad de su trabajo. Nosotros ya maduros y con canas seguimos siendo los mismos seres inquietos y creadores, que sabemos que la vida sin amigos es un camino estéril.

Our friendship began during our years studying at the National School of Plastic Arts. That is why I have been fortunate to witness his artistic evolution. From material painting and pointillism to landscapes and city scenes, as well as his mastery of watercolor...
Camejo enjoys the art of painting using classic oil and acrylic techniques on canvas...his perseverance has given him experience in the use of these techniques, which he works with in a very original and enriching style.
On the walls of his home, he treasures works from his different creative periods. These correspond to his period of material painting, created during his final years of study at the National School of Art...
More contemporary works hang in the living room. Paintings on canvas, acrylics and oils, cardboard with magnificent watercolors, bronze sculptures that give a three-dimensional view of his pictorial work, and even the house cat looks like a sculpture when it enjoys a nap on top of the wardrobe.... It gave me a tremendous fright when it moved, ha ha ha...
I remember that during my previous visit, he showed me much of what he had learned and uses from the Chinese art of watercolors and inks. Camejo is an artist who has visited several countries, allowing him to absorb part of universal culture, constantly enriching his techniques and visions.
I must mention and express my gratitude that during the nine years we studied together at the National School of Art and the Higher Institute of Art, Camejo became my mentor in the field of painting. I was studying sculpture, so his teachings and recommendations contributed to my ability today to also exhibit a path within painting, which has generally represented me internationally.
The Camejo-Vento family has always welcomed me as one of their own. We shared a delicious lunch with a variety of vegetable dishes, as they know I prefer vegetarian food. One of Camejo's pleasures is cooking, and this time he prepared a dish with quimbonbo in sauce that was delicious!
Friendship is an invaluable treasure, and when you share art as well as life, it results in a wonderful experience. This time, we also spent time looking at old black-and-white photos and laughing at the mischief and adventures we shared in the past. It was a way to share our past with his new partner and her mother, who came to visit him this afternoon...
I hope you are enjoying the works of Camejo (as he is also known in the art world). You can find many references to his work on the internet. National and international awards attest to the quality of his work. Now mature and gray-haired, we remain the same restless and creative beings, knowing that life without friends is a barren path.
