Here’s the latest scoop on what’s been cooking at PIVXLabs.
We’ve been hard at work on multiple fronts, from rolling out new tools to polishing existing ones. Below is a rundown of our recent efforts, keeping things straightforward and focused on the progress you care about.
Vector Bot SDK: First Version Out the Door
We’ve launched the initial version of the Vector Bot SDK, a big step toward empowering developers to build bots for the Vector ecosystem. This release involved a ton of groundwork to make it solid and user-friendly. Check it out:
- Vector Bot SDK: https://github.com/Luke-Larsen/Vector-SDK
- Mirror Repository: https://github.com/VectorPrivacy/Vector-SDK
To help folks get started, we also released an example bot to show how the SDK works in action:
- Vector Bot SDK Example: https://github.com/Luke-Larsen/Vector-SDK-Example
We’re also working on typing indicators for the SDK, a handy feature for when bot responses take a moment. This is in progress and can be tracked here: https://github.com/VectorPrivacy/Vector-SDK/pull/1
Closed-Source Bot R&D
We’ve been diving deep into research and development for some exciting bot features, much of which will feed into open-source example bots. A chunk of this work is for a new bot we’re crafting to make Vector more fun and engaging. Planned features include:
- AI Generation: Image, video, and text generation to spice up interactions.
- Address Book System: Helping users find and connect with each other.
- Cross-Platform Messaging: Enabling short messages between Vector’s Discord and Matrix bots, bridging communities seamlessly.
Stay tuned — these additions aim to draw more eyes to Vector and make it a blast to use!
PIVCards Server Maintenance
We hit a snag with some external software affecting PIVCards, but we’ve rolled out a fix, and the service is back online, running smoothly.
MyPIVXWallet (MPW)
Work on MyPIVXWallet has been all about refining the experience for the upcoming multi-account and multi-masternode release. Here’s what we’ve been tweaking:
-
Database Cleanup: Improved account deletion to keep the database tidy (PR #572, PR #586).
-
Faster Vault Creation: Reduced loading times by remembering created blocks PR #574.
-
Proposal Fixes: Blocked decimal values in proposal payments for cleaner submissions PR #580.
-
Synced Alert Improvement: Alerts now only show for the active wallet PR #583.
-
End-to-End Test Fixes: Squashed bugs to ensure smoother testing PR #584.
Seed Export/Import: Added the ability to export and import entire vault seeds, not just wallets PR #585.
Shield Memo Design: Finalized the design for memos on SHIELD transactions to improve usability PR #551.
These updates are all about making MPW more reliable and user-friendly as we gear up for the big release.
Labs Pulse: Infrastructure Monitoring Tool
We’re thrilled to share that Labs Pulse, our new infrastructure monitoring tool, is live (though not officially announced yet, as we’re ironing out a few final details). Hosted on an isolated server, Labs Pulse gives the Labs Team and community a color-coded snapshot of our ecosystem’s health, quick notifications for critical issues, and better tools to tackle infrastructure hiccups.
- Backend: Fully built to keep things running smoothly.
- Frontend: Beautifully designed by barbie_babe_ in parallel.
- Labs Pulse is already live and usable (but not yet announced, with minor work left). pulse.pivxla.bz
- Source Code: Available under the MIT license at PIVX-Labs/Labs-Pulse
Labs Oracle: Price Display Feature
We added a small but useful in-tab price display to Labs Oracle, making it easier to check prices at a glance.
Vector App Enhancements
The Vector app got some love with around 20 new commits, focusing on:
- Group Chat Prep: A multi-week refactor to support group chats, self-destructing chats, public chats, and more, moving beyond DM-only functionality.
- Bug Fixes: Hunted down pesky bugs affecting file sharing, notifications, muting, voice messaging, and Android stability to make Vector smoother and more reliable.
Wrapping Up
Despite a well-deserved vacation break, the team’s been pushing forward with these updates to strengthen the PIVX ecosystem and its tools. From Vector’s bot-building potential to Labs Pulse’s monitoring power and MPW’s polish, we’re laying the groundwork for a more private, user-friendly, and robust experience.
Thanks for your support, and we’ll keep you posted on what’s next! - leacymck
