- 🤗 Hello, all my friends! I hope everyone is well. Today, I have a recipe to share with you all as always: Stir-fried Minced Pork and Egg Tofu with thai basil leaves ( Thai called Pad Kra Pao). This menu is easy to make and delicious. It's one of the lunch dishes I prepared for my husband.
🌶️ Ingredients & Condiments
- Egg tofu, sliced into 3 pieces
- Thai basil leaves, 1 cup
- Garlic, 1 head
- Fresh chilies, 2 tablespoons
- Fish sauce, 1 tablespoon
- Oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon
- Granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon
- Vegetable oil for frying, 2 tablespoons
- Water, 3 tablespoons
🌶️ Preparation
- I prepared egg tofu, thai basil leaves, garlic, and fresh chilies. I steamed the egg tofu slices (about 1/2 inch thick) for about 5 minutes and set them aside.
- Next, I peeled the garlic, removed the stems from the fresh chilies, and picked the thai basil leaves. I washed all the vegetables and dried them.
- Then, I pounded the garlic and fresh chilies until they were coarsely crushed.
🥘 Cooking Time
- I placed a pan on the stove over medium heat. I added vegetable oil, followed by the prepared pounded garlic and fresh chilies. I stir-fried until they turned golden brown and fragrant.
- Then I added the minced pork and stir-fried it all together until it was almost cooked.
- Then, I seasoned it. I used oyster sauce, fish sauce, and granulated sugar as the seasonings.
- I mixed everything well together. I added the water, changed to high heat.
- And added the thai basil leaves as the final step. I stir-fried to combine everything, then turned off the stove.
🍽️ Serving
- I scooped the Stir-fried Minced Pork and with thai basil leaves onto a plate containing the egg tofu. Serve it with other dishes in the meal, such as clear soup or a fried egg; they will go together very well. Eat it with hot steamed rice.
- The flavors are perfectly balanced, with a harmonious blend of salty, sweet, and savory notes. The aromatic and spicy flavor of fresh thai basil, stir-fried briefly to preserve its unique aroma, pairs beautifully with the silky smooth steamed egg tofu that absorbs the sauce wonderfully.
- This creates a rich yet not overly dry flavor profile. The tender tofu complements the minced pork's firmer texture, making this dish a perfect match for steaming hot rice. It's a delight to eat, and the flavors are so well-balanced that you won't feel overwhelmed or greasy. becomes a true comfort food that's easy to devour without feeling overwhelmed.
