Disclaimer: Occasionally I get to have silent battles with myself about the path I've chosen and if it's the right choice. I get to ask myself why I've refused to commit crimes like fraud and have cars and houses like some of the people I know. Today, I've decided to write out exactly the things that go through my mind when I have these battles with myself. They might sound wrong, almost like I'm trying to encourage you to commit a crime. That is not my intention, but rather just an insight for you guys to see and understand why most people do end up going the other way because the truth is that at the end of the day, some points raised here are true.
Everyone knows that living life the honest way is the right way to live, but how can one keep on living a life like that when all you see are dishonest people living the best kind of lives out there.
Most people will be quick to tell you to be content with what you have, but how can you be content when you have nothing?
At the end of the day, it all boils down to discipline, but sometimes when you look at some people's lives and the things they've been through, you really can't blame them for turning out to be the kind of person that they are.
People will tell you that there is always a choice, but what they don't tell you is that them being a choice doesn't always mean it will be a favorable one.
Every day when you wake up in the morning, all you see are fraudsters and criminals driving the best cars, having access to the best healthcare, and basically just living life to the fullest, while you, the hard, honest working guy, have to struggle all day while also working for a dishonest boss.
Now I'm not trying to promote crime or any of that stuff that we consider to be bad; I just have a question in mind. Why is it that the people who choose the right path are the ones suffering? Shouldn't things be the other way around?
How do you expect people to do what's right if nothing good comes out of it, especially when compared to the guys who aren't doing what's right?
Personally, I'm convinced the system is rigged, and in order for anyone to make it in this rigged system, you have to at least do something shady to give yourself some sort of boost, and after that, you can go back to being good because only one in a million people gets to make it just being the good guy all through.
And this is the truth because every businessman has had to make at least one shady deal that they weren't proud of but helped them take their business to a position where they can now comfortably be the good guys and not suffer like the rest of the good guys down there who have refused to get their hands dirty.
It's like the last election in my country, where a candidate who was clearly favored by the people came out third. This wasn't because he didn't get the votes he needed to win, but because he had refused to rig the election like his opposition did, he had refused to do some shady business and ended up losing everything entirely.
Now of course this isn't ideal, and I'm not saying that we all have to start being shady. I'm just being honest and not sugarcoating words like most people would do.
The world is rotten and now the people suffering from that rot are the people who refuse to compromise. Unfortunately, the prize of not compromising is not something that the weak can handle, because it could cost you your life. And if this is a game of survival, it only makes sense to play the game any which way you can, even if it means compromising, just as long as you survive.
But also remember that after all is said and done, you still have to ask yourself one question, if you can live with all you've done to be in that position that you now occupy?
