Visitors to the Minnesota State Fair need many skills, but the most useful is the ability to stand in lines. Here they complete the warmups by queuing to enter the Fair after having already stood in other lines to get on the shuttle busses that brought them to the Fair.

Unless you’re a teetotaler, there’s a good chance that you’ll be imbibing refined barley and hops throughout the day. Might as well start things off with a flight of Summit ales:

Our first stop was the Flowers room in the Horticultural Building. Yesterday it was given over to the Minnesota Gladiolus Society:

The Crop Art room (also in the Horticultural Building) is always a fun stop and I’ve never seen a line to get into it, but there’s a first time for everything:

Later on we met up with my wife’s sister @jayna and her hubby. It was a gorgeous late-summer day in the high sixties Fahrenheit, perfect for the Fair’s premier event — people watching. You never know who you’ll see next — a heavily tatted woman wearing a TATTOOS ARE STUPID t-shirt, a guy who looks like he might have a bit of snapping turtle in his DNA, or a woman reaching into her cleavage to extract a deep fried cheese curd for noshing:
