Si bien Game of Thrones ahora es una marca mayor, con una precuela emitida actualmente y nuevas series por venir, la realidad es que el comienzo fue un tanto austero. La realidad es que el autor nunca pensó ver su libro adaptado, no solo por el gran coste sino por la gran producción necesaria. Y sin embargo se logró, el libro nos muestra cada fase que irá pasando el proyecto televisivo en sus primeras etapas, desde que obtienen el presupuesto, el primer rodaje(y su regrabación), el casting, la elección del set, etc.
Although Game of Thrones is now a major brand, with a prequel currently airing and new series to come, the reality is that the beginning was somewhat austere. The truth is that the author never thought he would see his book adapted, not only because of the high cost but also because of the large production required. And yet it was achieved. Otro tema que se menciona, es la dificultad en el rodaje en escenas complicadas, ya sea por el clima o por la cantidad de exigencia que se pidió a los actores, como en la famosa “Batalla de los bastardos”.

El libro es entretenido de leer, no solo por lo interesante, sino que está cargado de cierto sentido de humor, en especial en las entrevistas a los actores y productores.
