I WOULD RATHER NOT TRAVEL BACK IN TIME

I have always been a deep thinker, I usually think a lot so sometimes I sit down and think of my past, then I question myself on somethings like "What would I do if I can back in time?, what could I have done if I have the ability to go back to a few moments in life and choose differently or prevent myself from doing somethings I did wrong?". However, when I think about it again in another area, there are some experiences I won't want to witness again especially the day I lost my Dad. The idea of time travel sounds great to some experience or mistakes we could have corrected if there was time for it but there are some painful ones or will say awful experiences that even if we can go back in time we still can't do anything to correct them because they are beyond our capacity. ![time-2798567_1280.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmbJgeYy1UgPiQtZVTyrhxjwVNVA6ErPSsz48LQWXZsD8Z/time-2798567_1280.jpg) [Image Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/time-clock-clocks-meeting-business-2798567/) I can remember during my secondary school days, one of the exams that I failed in my WAEC was due to me using excessive time watching movies at the expense of reading, it was months later when my results were out that I knew the gravity of my laziness. If I could go back in time I would have compelled myself to read more and maybe I would have graduated with better grades without having to resit for the exams again. However, reality is that I have learned discipline because of that failure, the suffering and shame of my low performance made me have a more disciplined study attitude, I became more serious by the time I got to university so I can say that, the failure that I used to be ashamed of turned out to be the one that sharpened my disciplined mind till today. When a child touches a hot pot with naked hands, the child cries but learns not to touch it again because of the pain he experienced when he did so. When a young man wastes money, he becomes hungry and later becomes wiser on how to spend money. If our errors are easily undone because of time travel, we would become childish and we would never become responsible as we could always restart our actions. Just like I said earlier, I lost my Dad when I was very young to a kidney disease but now I ask myself "If I had the ability to go back in time, what would I have done?" Because I don't have the power to heal him even if I can go back. ![sparkling-wine-7679665_1280.jpg](https://images.hive.blog/DQmUCCrfjgQeMfdG3YznL9DQYJp5BFUS8N23LiCrFywEHPk/sparkling-wine-7679665_1280.jpg) [Image Source](https://pixabay.com/photos/sparkling-wine-spirits-bottle-7679665/) Personally, I believe that the true beauty of life is that time passes onwards and we have no power to stop it or reverse it. When a moment has passed, it is lost forever. That is what makes today so valuable, this is the reason why we treasure memories and accomplishments, if time has always been reversible, we will no longer take life seriously. We would stop valuing our chances since we could always go back and would give it a second chance. I have made some mistakes included in life but they have made me strong, patient and wise. Travelling in time would be sweet, however it would be depriving us of growth, justice and the purpose of life. Rather than me having a desire to travel back in time, I have decided to learn and do better today. It is not possible to change the past but I can still possibly form the future. Perhaps that is the true gift of time which is not to being able to go back but we can always move on. Thank you so much for staying this far, hope you had a good read with me, see you again next time 😁
