When I joined Hive four years ago, Ecency was my favourite. It was always my first love among all other frontends for publishing my posts, engaging and doing the normal activities. This is also coupled with the fact that we earn points for each activity through the Ecency frontend. The points were being rewarded for using the frontend.
One admiring feature of Ecency was the leaderboard. I could say it made me more active each day. I spent more than 10 hours every day to get to the top 10 on the leaderboard. It was an Hivian who took it upon himself to appreciate the active users on the leaderboard by giving prizes, too, on every weekly announcement, and this went on for more than two years, I think. That alone got me more active on Hive and the frontend.
For every post we make, the likes we give on posts and even comments, we earn Ecency points. They are used to promote our posts, which gives more visibility. Those days were amazing, and I wish most of what we enjoyed during those periods could be brought back again, i.e, the leaderboard.
I have been using the frontend since 2021, when I joined Hive, until 2023 and was always consistent until Inleo came into the picture. Although I never stopped using Ecency, and that is because of all the frontends aside from PEAKD, it was easily navigated with engagement. I never used Peakd to make a post except once in a while, where I comment through the frontend, but I still find myself running to Ecency because nothing compares to using it when it comes to engaging on posts.
Web or App? For me, the web version is my preference. I could remember installing the app for the first time two years back, but I didn’t enjoy it, so I settled for the web, which was easier for me to use. I don’t know why I dislike the app, but my friends and others would share their good experiences with using the app. I guess one man’s food is another man’s poison, right? I stopped using the app and deleted it, settling for the web version, which has always been convenient for me both on mobile and laptop.
There’s one thing I love and admire about the Ecency frontend. The easy-to-navigate interface comes with an amazing feature of accessing your “favourites” posts easily. I favourited many users’ blogs just because I wanted to be able to reach them easily without having to go through the follow feature or home section, where I would start scrolling through to get their posts to engage with.
Ecency made it easier for me because all I needed to do was click the notification button, filter my search to “favourite”, and I got to see their posts and engage. With this, I often visited them, which is something I enjoy doing. I don’t know why other frontends do not have it; even Peakd isn’t working for it. Every time I try to use the feature, it doesn’t load up, and this has been happening for a long time, which made me go with Ecency.
Just recently this year, I started using the frontend to publish my posts and engage, but there’s now a problem. Lol, I notice that it’s not until I switch my mobile to the desktop mode that I can publish my post easily. It doesn’t work when my mobile is in normal mode, and I guess that’s something @ecency should work on.
They have been working constantly, and I keep seeing new changes every time I log in to the web version, and it’s amazing that they aren’t stopping to ensure everything keeps going smoothly in the community. For their community, I guess I have posted sometimes before and got active, but it was primarily because of the Dreemport challenge we participated in in the past.
Now, I like where the profile page, home section, write a post, waves, wallet sections are placed down below the page on mobile, making it cool, and it has been fun using the frontend for a lot of things now, mostly accumulating more points which I would love to be gifting to communities hosting prompts and contests. With this, I believe it’s part of supporting them and doing my part to move the platform forward.
