Neoxian - the great and bubbling city. The city that never sleeps. A city where, even if you log in at 1 am, you'd be surprised to see people chatting lively there. Of course, we aren't the only Nigerians there; others from India, Pakistan, the UK, etc are also there. The city is always chatty, and we are proud to be called its members. The Neoxian city is filled with friendly people.
The channel was created by the great Dragon, himself, also known as Mr D. I never knew such a city existed until I joined on the 1st of November, 2022, and the journey has been fun till today.
I can't vividly remember how I joined, but I came in after @nkemakonam89 joined the previous day on the 30th of October that same year. This prompt just took me back to the memory lane of how it all started with me.
There was a time I wasn't very active on Discord generally and didn't take this city seriously, as I was focused and channelled my energy into being active on Hive rather than anywhere else, including on WhatsApp. Then one day, Nkem encouraged me to be more active and that I would enjoy it there. I learnt that they were on a different platform called "ELEMENT" before they moved to Discord.
When I became active, I realised that I had missed a lot, but now that I was there, I would definitely make the most of my presence there. It began where, as a newcomer, one would have to chat their way up to level 12 within a week to claim the orange colour before the mee6 is reset, which is every Sunday afternoon. Getting the orange colour has an advantage. It took me less than 5 days to achieve that and claim the orange colour. The journey has been fun.
The first time I won one of Mr D's giveaways was during the burn giveaway at night, and I could remember it was around 11 pm, when those who were online didn't sleep but were waiting for the last giveaway for the day. We could already guess the time for each giveaway for the day, and so, everyone was always on alert.
The burn giveaway involves burning a certain amount of Neoxag tokens, and the highest wins once the bot has picked two people. I couldn't believe my eyes that night when I won, and congratulatory wishes were just coming in. I grinned, I laughed, and the excitement was all over my face that I couldn't sleep; I was just thinking about it. Do you know the feelings when you have some butterflies in your stomach? This was beyond a guy proposing to you or telling you for the first time, he loves you, hahaha... this was more than that. Imagine getting an upvote worth over $11 on your post that day.
As if that wasn't enough, I started winning the burn giveaways every night, which went on for less than 2 weeks or so. One would think the bot had registered my name to be picked every night, and I was also more than happy. At a point, I knew if I didn't win the first two giveaways during the day, the burn giveaway was there to put smiles on my face, and so, we were always prepared and on alert. These were sweet memories indeed.
The city is a friendly place to be, filled with amazing people, and it wasn't long before the city became my home, where I can always go to whenever I feel bored and need to have fun with others. I met great friends, there was no discrimination, no harassment - just love, unity and cooperation. We all respected each other, and that's the beauty of a community like the Neoxian city.
Mr D never condones disrespect from anyone, and he is always ready to punish whoever violates any rule. He has been a good leader so far. We all vibe together in the city and are never tired.
There were activities to spice the city up, we laughed, cracked jokes and shared updates among ourselves. One activity I always look forward to is the music event organised by @merit.ahama every Tuesday, where we come together to sing, rap, etc then we win prizes. Everyone always looks forward to that day, and we all come prepared for the event. It was fun listening to songs from beautiful voices; some added humour to their singing, and we enjoyed the event as long as it went on.
The way we chat, someone who is new would think we've known each other from somewhere and only come together online, but no, we all connected on Hive, then moved to channels where we know ourselves better. I held a role last year which lasted for a few months. It was called the tongue twister game. Every Saturday, there would be some phrases for participants to twist their tongues in saying the words fast and correctly. The winner goes away with some prizes, and this was enjoyed for a period until I stopped it. At least, the game was enjoyed while it lasted.
I have celebrated three birthdays in the city, and I must say, these people aren't ones I would take for granted, but I always appreciate them for how kind they have been. I can never forget how, for each birthday, I receive loads of gifts from them. The one I celebrated last year was more than I could imagine. After my siblings, they were the next that made the day amazing for me. I wish every day were my birthday. Lol
These times were proof that family can be made everywhere, not necessarily offline. So far, I have met a few of them physically: @nkemakonam89, @vickoly, @abdul-qudus, and @moremoney28. I can't wait to see more people very soon, and that will be possible via Sam's physical hangout happening next year by God's grace. May God spare everyone till then.
