We did eventually head west on our summer road trip, into British Columbia and across the Rocky Mountains. This was my first experiences driving through the mountains, and I won't lie; it was a bit harrowing. The speed limit was 90 kilometers, but the big rigs certainly believed it was 110 kilometers. I likened the trip to driving boot camp; it was navigate the decline and curves at 20 kilometers over the speed limit, or be ended by the speed demon trucker behind you. But I did it. Driving back in Alberta later, in comparison, felt like watching TV, but you had to steer. The views were of course spectacular, and I took them in whenever we stopped. We spent the night in Revelstoke. I really enjoyed it small, but artistic town feel. A very cool place. Good food and drink, live music, which later included me, with a late night karaoke experience ... which I really loved. Revelstoke is really worth the visit. methinks.
