A little pet break. This beauty was once available at our local SPCA. We often visit and take the shelter dogs for a walk. Bugz here ... wolf cross ... was snapped up after a year's incarceration. He was a lovely gentleman by the time of his spring. Still miss this sweet soul:) If you have the space, time, and patience, consider adding a delightful doggy to your family.

I've been remiss
he writes
an errant love letter
accompanied by
a cassette of songs
stolen from 90's radio
now ... golden-oldies
strains of a staticky King
not much more than
a noisy dubbing for
un-lived memories
imagined
tintype and polaroids
"you were always on my mind"

his prologue fades
her wizened hand
clicks on the tape deck
cutting the ribbon in two
no point necromancing
a love
they both only dreamed of
still, even unheard, he remains
alive in here mind; an un-lived
memory; a love she imagined
he envisioned too
but didn't have the courage to let live
"you were always on my mind"

I was gifted with this flattering portrait back in May by a wonderful, fellow poet on X. Such talent this individual has but the artist wishes to remain anonymous. I wonder though if he might also join the the HIVE community

Early October

early October
all toxicity dissolves
in the arid wind
*Yes, I know it is only July, and I am certainly not trying to push things along any faster; but sometimes an Autumnal moment just grabs you:)*

A Violet Mist

a violet mist
obscures the golden hour
only rest will have it lift
*Most funks dissolve with dreams. Feeling bad; seek out the Sandman:)*

Words and Poetry are my own. The photo of the dog is my own. Unless otherwise attributed images represent a collaboration between myself and AI, Grok. Please consider them visual haiku, as they are meant to carry symbolic weight; but not meant to diminish human rendered work. All poems showcased today were first published on the X platform in May, 2025. Looking for longer workers, all of the titles below. are available in paperback or digital through amazon and your local libraries and bookstores.
