Some anime are made as a pure form of entertainment and some seem to be a timeless piece of art. *The Water Magician* is a post apocalyptic. Beautifully adapted from a Japanese silent film, the anime is a heartbreaking and yet touching story of love, sacrifice and destiny.    Story Summary   The Water Magician is a very tragic, yet emotionally rich narrative of the story of a traveling water magician *Shiraito*, who squanders his earnings on roadside attractions and small theaters. Despite his modest success, he lives a lonely life where society does not understand him well and devalues ​​him. He meets Kinya, a destitute young man who lives with Kinya and hopes to become a lawyer. Shiraito is inspired by her honesty, kindness, and determination and begins to support her emotionally and financially. To help Kinya reach her goal, she makes many sacrifices, often giving up her own comfort and stability. She transfers money to him so that he can take care of it, and in fact does so when he is personally hurt. She becomes devoted to him and love is purity and selflessness.  Shiraito is betrayed by the people around him and faces extreme social pressures that push him towards tragedy. The world does not reciprocate his kindness. The storyline is very straightforward and yet it is filled with heavy emotions. Shiraito is one of the most sad but sympathetic heroines in the history of anime because unconditional love and selflessness were part of her personality. The thing that impressed me the most is that the truth of life does not always reward being kind to someone, and sometimes dreams require sacrifices that seem unacceptable. The pace of the anime is really slow, but it is really perfect because it allows the audience's emotions to sink in. Each scene is like an oil painting where attention has been paid to every tiny detail of Japanese culture through beauty and sadness. Personally, I found the choices Shiraito had to make and the effort he put into achieving what he wanted to be very touching. I felt heartbroken and thoughtful at the end of it and it is a testament to the power of short and artistic anime to influence viewers.
