Last weekend, I was invited to a meeting of artists organized by the Carlos Stohr Foundation and the Caracas Urban Artists Association. In this
post, I share that wonderful experience. Thanks to that meeting, I was also able to visit the
Arturo Michelena Museum. After the event, we visited the museum to see an art exhibition organized by the Carlos Stohr Foundation featuring urban drawings created at previous meetings. Here, I'm sharing some of the art we saw at that exhibition.
El pasado fin de semana me invitaron a un encuentro de dibujantes organizado por la fundación Carlos Stohr y la asociación de dibujantes urbanos de Caracas en este
post comparto esa grandiosa experiencia; además gracias a ese encuentro pude conocer el museo
Arturo Michelena ya que después de la actividad visitamos el museo para ver una exposición de arte organizada por la fundación Carlos Stohr con piezas de dibujo urbano realizadas en encuentros anteriores. Aquí les vengo a compartir un poco del arte que podemos apreciar en esa muestra.
This exhibition brings together a selection of outstanding works by 30 Venezuelan artists from different generations and regions of the country, who cultivate urban drawing as a means of recording, remembering, expressing, and reflecting on the environment we inhabit. These works, created in situ, in everyday spaces, invite us to look closely at what we often take for granted.
Esta exposición reúne una selección de obras destacadas de 30 artistas venezolanos de distintas generaciones y regiones del país, que cultivan el dibujo urbano como medio de registro, memoria, expresión y reflexión sobre el entorno que habitamos. Son trabajos realizados in situ, en espacios cotidianos, que invitan a mirar con atención aquello que a menudo damos por sentado.
The "Urban Sketchers" association promotes drawing done directly on-site, with the artist's attentive eye as a witness to their surroundings. It is a practice that connects the creator with the space they inhabit, with what identifies a place, its people and its professions, through direct and spontaneous lines.
La asociación de "Dibujantes Urbanos" promueven el dibujo realizado directamente en el lugar, con la mirada atenta del artista como testigo de su entorno, Se trata de una práctica que conecta al creador con el espacio que habita, con aquello que identifica a un lugar, a sus personas y oficios, a través del trazo directo y espontaneo.
The exhibition features outstanding works from the Venezuelan Urban Drawing competitions, sponsored by the Carlos Stohr Foundation. Inspired by the legacy of the graphic chronicler of Margarita Island, the artist promotes drawing as a visual narrative of the landscape and everyday life, especially those scenes deeply rooted in Venezuelan tradition. His legacy has guided the foundation's purpose: to promote, make visible, and support the art of drawing, now recognized as urban drawing in Venezuela.
La muestra recoge obras destacadas de los concursos Dibujo Urbano Venezuela, impulsados por la fundación Carlos Stohr, inspirada en el legado del que fue cronista grafico de la isla de Margarita, promueve el dibujo como narración visual del paisaje y la vida cotidiana, especialmente aquellas escenas con profundo arraigo en la tradición venezolana. Su legado ha guiado el propósito de la fundación: promover, visibilizar y respaldar el arte del dibujo, hoy reconocido como dibujo urbano en Venezuela.
In addition to an original piece by artist Carlos Stohr, nine drawings made especially for this occasion by the "Urban Sketchers Caracas" association are on display. They toured the La Pastora neighborhood to depict, through direct observation, one of the capital city's most iconic landscapes.
Además de una pieza original del artista Carlos Stohr, se exhiben nueve dibujos realizados especialmente para esta ocasión por la asociación "Dibujantes Urbanos Caracas", quienes recorrieron el sector de la Pastora para representar, desde la observación directa, uno de los paisajes más emblemáticos de la ciudad capital.

I truly loved seeing this exhibition. It gave me the opportunity to learn from these great urban artists so I could improve my drawings. Next Saturday, September 6th, we'll have another meeting at La Pastora Parish to draw the beautiful landscape of the capital. Who knows, maybe one of my drawings will be selected for the next exhibition organized by the foundation. I hope you enjoy this post. Good vibes.
De verdad me encanto poder ver esta exposición, me permití aprender de estos grandes dibujantes urbanos para poder mejorar en mis trazos, ya que el próximo sábado 6 de septiembre tendremos otro encuentro en la parroquia la Pastora para realizar dibujos del hermoso paisaje de la capital, y quien sabe si uno de mis dibujos queda seleccionado para la próxima exposición que organice la fundación.
