This weekend, I was invited to participate in a very interesting artistic activity. The Carlos Stöhr Foundation, an organization dedicated to promoting drawing in the country, held a workshop in collaboration with the Caracas Urban Sketches Association to promote drawing. I had the opportunity to participate in this workshop, which took place at the La Pastora parish in Caracas, Venezuela.
Este fin de semana me invitaron a participar en una actividad artística muy interesante, la fundación Carlos Stöhr una organización que se encarga de incentivar la práctica de dibujar en el país, realizo un taller en colaboración con la Asociación de Urban sketches Caracas para promulgar el dibujo; tuve la oportunidad de ser invitado a participar en este taller que se llevó a cabo en la parroquia La Pastora en la ciudad de Caracas, Venezuela.
On Saturday, in an adjacent room of the Arturo Michelena Museum located in La Pastora, more than 40 artists gathered to meet each other, learn a little more about the Carlos Stöhr Foundation and the Caracas Urban Sketches Association, and also to do what we love most and what unites us: drawing. Since a large number of people participated, we were divided into several groups depending on our level of knowledge of this urban drawing technique. I was part of the advanced group, as I have some experience in this practice.
El día sábado en una sala anexa del museo Arturo Michelena ubicado en la Pastora, nos reunimos más de 40 dibujantes para conocernos, aprender un poco más sobre la fundación Carlos Stöhr y sobre la Asociación de Urban Sketches Caracas y además hacer lo que más nos gusta y nos une que es dibujar; como participamos un gran número de personas, nos dividimos en varios grupos dependiendo nuestro nivel de conocimiento de esta técnica de dibujo urbano, yo forme parte del grupo avanzado, ya que cuento con un poco de experiencia en esta práctica.
After several conversations about the basics of drawing and the parameters considered for urban drawing, we performed several basic warm-up exercises, then went out into the street and focused on drawing our surroundings.
Después de varias conversaciones sobre las bases del dibujo y de los parámetros que se consideran como dibujo urbano, realizamos varios ejercicios básicos de calentamiento, para luego salir a la acción en la calle y enfocarnos en dibujar nuestro entorno.
In the group I was in, each of us stood at a specific spot and focused our gaze on some part of the landscape around us to begin capturing what we saw. This allowed us to create a window from our perspective onto different areas of La Pastora Parish.
En el grupo que yo estaba, cada uno se situó en un punto especifico y enfoco su mirada hacia alguna parte del panorama que nos rodeaba para comenzar a plasmar lo que veíamos, eso nos permitió plasmar una ventana desde nuestra mirada a diferentes zonas de la parroquia la Pastora.
The outcome of this meeting was very gratifying. Allowing us to gather in groups to draw is a wonderful experience. I truly loved it. I also met several highly skilled artists from whom I was able to learn and nurture my personal growth. We'll soon repeat this activity to continue strengthening these urban drawing groups. After completing the activity, we visited the exhibitions at the Arturo Michelena Museum, but I'll share that experience in another post. I hope you enjoy this post. Good vibes.
El resultado de este encuentro fue muy gratificante, permitirnos reunirnos en grupos para dibujar es una experiencia maravillosa, de verdad me encanto, aparte conocí a varios dibujantes con muchísima habilidad en sus trazos de los que pude aprende y nutrir mi crecimiento personal; pronto vamos a repetir esta actividad para seguir reforzando estos grupos de dibujantes urbanos. Luego de haber culminado con la actividad, fuimos a visitar las exposiciones que hay dentro del museo Arturo Michelena, pero esa experiencia la compartiré en otra publicación; espero que este post sea de su agrado, buenas vibras.
